NBC's Hannibal

I've been seeing Luther advertised quite a bit, it does look pretty damn good, and I have seen overall pretty favourable reviews.

Yes, I have been thinking along the same lines. I was interested in their father dynamic with Abigail aswell, and also was interested in how Hannibal felt about Abigail, I think she knew too much so he had to kill her, but he actually felt a strange alien (to him) remorse for her death.

I really can't see her being alive...I know it's deliberately left open, with them only finding blood and an ear and no body, but that ''veal'' scene was way too overloaded with sinister undertones that it got me thinking, ''Ya, she really is probably dead''

I think Bryan Fuller confirmed she's dead somewhere. Not sure though. I don't think it's really plausible that she isn't.

But I agree that Hannibal regretted the need to kill her - I'm not sure his tears about it were real, but I'm sure his apology to her just before he does is.

Also: Luther is epic. But you have to watch it right from season 1, obviously, if you do. Idris Elba and Ruth Wilson are fully awesome.

Yeh, it really isn't plausible to be honest. As much as I liked her as a character (and I really did) to have her pop up at some point in the future would be pretty dumb.

Yeh, I felt his words before he supposedly kills her were pretty genuine. And what he was telling Anderson's character, about never wanting or even thinking about having a child until meeting Abigail.

Will do :D

Ah, so Hannibal is discovered in Season 2.

After which the series gets canceled, but at least it fulfilled the prequel requirement.

I wonder if that was the reason they spoiled everything, to make it clear that the bad guy would not get away with his shenanigans for another season while everyone jerked off, coming close but never close enough. Well, that and the fact that it is a prequel.

I still would have preferred something a bit more...ambiguous.

People complain about too ambiguous, or not enough. Never enough to please all parties.

This could set itself up for a great series three where Hannibal is the one in prison and it deals with his consulting from the inside. To be honest, they could do the movies after this with Clarice if they wanted to. I wouldn't mind having Jodie Foster burned from my brain.

There's rights issues with Clarice - they can't use any characters specifically introduced in Silence of the Lambs as the rights are separate and they don't have them.

I wonder how early in the season the reveal will come. I hope it's a good balance between late enough so we still get good stuff with Will in prison but early enough so a substantial portion is still a complete surprise.

Dude, that trailer gave away far too fucking much.

Yeah - wish I'd never watched it to be honest. I'll cross my fingers and hope it's a misdirect but

it looked like Fishbourne's character is going to be killed by Hannibal

.

Guess they are trying to get new people on board with that type of trailer.

Huh, I noticed none of that. Not Hannibal being caught, not the spoiler...I was pretty much lost to narrative coherence after the cornfield.

Well, good thing that they only have to please me :P

Fishbourne's character could survive, as I understand it he was around during

Silence but this prequel already deviated so he's not safe imo.

But yeah, it really irked me that they not only show him clearly bleeding out but Hannibal's female protege also seemingly pointing a gun at the man while he's in his bloody shirt. One incident can be explained away or could be a twist (yeah right). Two is just gratuitous.

But I guess we'll see.

That trailer was gorgeous. Loved the "Stand By Me" cover.

I've wanted to get into this series for a while, not only because I've heard many good things, but also because it just looks so stylish and beautiful from promos and such (the atmosphere, the lighting, the set design, the cinematography, the food porn, etc. etc.). The problem is that I've heard the murders and the show in general are very disturbing. I watched The X-Files for the entirety of its run, so I'd like to think I have a strong stomach, but I'm not sure I can handle it. That trailer, though...ugh, so beautiful.
