deleted01
Congrats! :D I love that you're reworking an old dress that has memories and sentimental value. I have no advice to offer on the subject, unfortunately.
WillWork4NinjaPowers
Ep please post a pic when you are done! Not what you posted as far as pics go, but in my head the dress as described would make a wonderful art deco wedding dress.
Elder Sister
This one was my mothers wedding dress when she married my father.I love the first one. Congrats, Ep! You are going to be a beautiful bride. <
Fragile Bird
Did I miss a picture? Have we seen the original dress? I just attended a wedding where a beautiful remake was done of the wedding dress originally worn by the mother of the bride. She got married in the mid 70s and the fashion at the time was high necked, long sleeved dresses with small trains (both mothers had very similar gowns), and the dress was shortened, the lace sleeves removed and turned into cap sleeves, the train removed and the neckline changed to a scoop neck. The dressmaker did a fabulous job, and I'm sure something fabulous can be done for Eponine. :)
Eponine
I'll post a picture when I get it out of storage - I need to get my friend with me to go to my storage unit and rummage through the boxes for it.
Theda Baratheon
Okay. Just a few of my latest fabulous outfits. I feel I'm definitely developing a certain ''style'' and this makes me somewhat happy, however shallow that sounds. This is a fashion thread after all, and clothes are ace! https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/1001529_10151946385411591_495713426_n.jpg http://24.media.tumblr.com/7bf53151afff60c0b2a9bb483038d617/tumblr_mtqtby1xJm1qf0x2fo1_500.jpg http://25.media.tumblr.com/6362305977f037962d494577c78e5941/tumblr_mtwqz2xYpe1qfx22ho1_500.jpg http://24.media.tumblr.com/91ce9191db0b211c2fad391b5ecf1ce8/tumblr_mtp8tqFzEO1qfx22ho8_1280.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/562298_10151931260251113_704772359_n.jpg http://24.media.tumblr.com/984808c7c70e75965d5c973504248dae/tumblr_mu22lxZhWq1qehyxro2_250.jpg Almost Always with the hat!!!!! Buckwheat
Theda, you look fabulous, and I can only wish I were nearly as daring in my clothing choices. :D It is a cool style indeed.
Theda Baratheon
Thank you kindly!! I have stopped caring now and just wear whatever I want, I also think it is because I don't have enough time to join a theatre company or act, I am channeling some ~theatrics~ into my clothing :P
deleted01
Today I bought this: m.newlook.com/mcs/publish/4923/76718?prodid=287107667&cat=cat10002&name=WomensIn case the link doesn't work, it's a burgundy jumper with reindeers on it. After the success of the cat jumper I thought, what the hell. It should be here tomorrow :DTheda - agreed! I'm always worried about what people think, but I'm trying to say sod it. Starting with wearing funky jumpers
Starkess
Theda, you definitely have a very distinct style! I think you look great. :)
Lany Freelove Cassandra
Wonderful Theda! Love the outfits and the HATS! :) eta: my new boots. I was able to wear them all day Saturday and Sunday at Capclave with no pain to the feet. (detail of the buckles, my favorite part)
WillWork4NinjaPowers
It's life or death. Winter is coming, and I NEED this coat. http://www.yoox.com/us/41375147VS/item?dept=sttmnttrw_us#sts=sr_sttmnttrw_us80&cod10=41375147VS&sizeId=
Kat
So BART is on strike and I've been staying with my parents on and off to avoid commute hell. My students are starting to notice- I keep some emergency clothes in my car and they're giving me the side-eye if I wear the same pants two days in a row. But mostly, when I wear the same shoes twice in a row. I have enough shoes that this pretty much never happens, and now they're starting to wonder if something is wrong. God forbid I ever get a life and have an adult sleepover. I'll never hear the end of it. I need suggestions on brands of tights that a) last a while and b ) don't have weird shininess going on. It's getting to be tights weather, and some of my old ones are wearing out. I like patterns that aren't too crazy and could go with some ribbed variety. Whitestripe
Kat: I really like Hue brand. H&M is good too, but I tend to wear either plain or ribbed tights. No patterns for me, really.
lady narcissa
Kat, This will possibly not help you since I have no idea if they are still available. But all my winter matte opaque (no shininess!) tights are Donna Karan that I purchased in the early 1990s. They are still going strong with no holes or runs or anything are many repeated washings. I probably paid $15 a pair back then so I imagine they would cost more but at this rate I'd say they are worth the money since they have lasted longer than any pants I've ever owned. So naturally with such a good record, I'd recommend them if they still make those tights. But not having to buy a new pair I can't say if they do. Her tights are great, you can get them at Ross or Marshall's for a good price. I like Hue as well. And Target brand tights are usually my go to. They always have a good stock on hand. I always check the clearance ones first. I don't think I've paid over $5 for tights in 10 years.
Whitestripe
Target tights never last long for me. Maybe I'm just hard on my tights. I just got my daughter some delicious fleece lined tights. I wish they made them in adult sizes!

I just got my daughter some delicious fleece lined tights. I wish they made them in adult sizes! I always wear 2 pairs of tights. One is usually something Spanx-ish, lol, the other a pair of the opaque tights in my true size. The more you make the stretch, the faster they wear out, hence the spanx. I also get really cold. I think I would die without 2 pairs of tights.
Guest Raidne
At first, the idea of 2 pairs of tights sounds uncomfortable. But then as the idea sinks in...brilliant.
Fragile Bird
I always do something similar, but with nylons as the base (cheapies from Wal Mart or wherever) with the leggings or tights on top. Very satisfying.
