  1. and poor old Edmure iO Forley manages to kill the hostages then it will stop the BWB/any northern forces getting inspiration from freeing them, but will also increase the absolute hatred for the Lannisters. Their allies (Tyrells) aren't going to approve of killing hostages either (not a precedent any noble would like) and they won't necessarily get the real story. Doubtless it will be put about that it was an unprovoked killing. Edmure and Jeyne are not really of any except symbolic/hereditary value to northern or anti-Lannister forces, Brynden was their military brains. Not ensuring Brynden was the first person to give himself up when the castle was surrendered was one of Jaime's little oversights. Chatting to Tom and letting slip that it was Genna who is the force in the family, not her husband, was another. I still think that Brynden will turn up at the BWB though, as I feel a deadly confrontation between Brynden and Jaime makes sense. Not sure how that ties in with an attack on the column. I do feel that Brynden will have made plans, just as he planned his escape.
  2. @FantasyCreature cripes don't want to waste questions can you clarify if the answer to 6 included things made of botanical matter or just plants and trees themselves? and if animals covered all types of life such as insects, fish, birds, marine animals, dragons? Can't resist: Is it an egg?
  3. I remember the astonishing draft chapter, I just forgot the where he was and did he have a specific plan part!
  4. is Euron attacking Oldtown something that is established? I never know this stuff.
  5. Was it ever seen on page either alive or dead? (as opposed to just being mentioned in the text) @FantasyCreature also a question above
  6. In the OP, I said that the prologues alternate Ice and Fire. As a separate point, I said that some sort of arcane power is involved. I did not say they alternated "Ice Magic" and "Fire Magic". I did this partly because of the 4th involving a faceless man. Also. skin changing is somewhat different from Wights emerging and creating 'zombies'. Its kind of hard to classify the various 'weird 'things from the north of westeros (The Others, their 'zombie' army, Coldhands, greenseers, skin changers) and even though Melisandre preaches a single religion focused on Rhllor, there are things going on like Dany hatching eggs, that are not predicted in her religion (as far as I can remember). But note the two fire prologues are in fact very similar. And the one in the Citadel begins with the word "Dragons!" They both involve lots of talk among a group of people in Westeros, and some plotting. They are talking about Rhllor and/or fire magic, and about dragons and at the Citadel about Targs. The interest of Marwyn and some of his disciples in happenings in Essos is anathema to the mainstream maesters just as Melisandre is shocking to Cressen. Both prologues end in the sad death of a pathetic POV who felt alone in a crowd and was involved in their own little plot. In both we are hearing news of events in the East but we see we see those things more dramatically in the chapters set in the east (eg Dany hatching eggs). The prologues so far have focused on Westeros and the reactions of Westerosi, so the "Fire" prologues are somewhat at second hand.
  7. I find custard disgusting and can't understand why it is central to some people's enjoyment of desserts and puddings. When we went to England from Australia for 6 months when I was child I was luckily old enough to tell the dinner ladies I didn't want custard on my school dessert (they would looked shocked and astounded but I was determined and would shove my hands over the plate to stop them) but my younger sisters didn't have a choice, and also couldn't just not eat it. They'd be nagged to eat up all their custard. They were in tears on the first day and horrified from then on. The dinner ladies and school system regarded it as the health food of a nation and a great treat.
  8. It was used to make lots of those slice things. A moist but not liquid filling (akin to cheese cake) produced with carnation milk and other ingredients, between sheets of pastry, cut into squares. I say 'was' but probably still is.
  9. Wouldn't that just be a little touch showing Arya recognised the Braavosi accent? They would be the only two she's met. Faceless man being Syrio is silly. (Unlike any double identities I believe in, which are all sensible...). PS doesn't Varys, in the character of the gaoler, take credit for sending those three to the Wall? So a theory of sending Jaqen to the Wall is possible.
  10. I think winning means the host starts another game. Otherwise, the person who wins starts one. Of course, you can always make up some new rules!
  11. No sign of talent so far in Dorne except Myrcella. I believe Arianne will back the wrong dragon simply because twice she has had the opportunity to read books about dragons and has rejected it as boring. I think that's a clue.
