Red Band trailer for Free Fire. I don't know what Ben Wheatley's made here, but I think I like it:

Yes. I have been waiting for this one. High Rise was great (Luke Evans was especially good in a 'grey' role, which makes me keen for The Girl on the Train too). I'm a big fan of Kill List too, one of those films with a really oppressive and dissonant soundtrack. It bothered me so much I had to keep pausing the film. Sightseers is hilarious and pretty dark too, I've been feeling in need of a rewatch recently.

Matthew McConaughey may be back at the Oscars this year. Gold trailer

That does look good :) Although, Sea of Trees looked like a certified hit as well when I watched the trailers, so even the McConnaissance may mislead you :P

I think it might be trying a bit too hard to hit the Wolf of Wall Street crowd (although the protagonist looks more sympathetic and the whole film less focused on the decadence and more on outside antagonism). Mind you I didn't like WoWS all that much so if someone wants to have another go that's fine by me. :P

I don't know, the exploitation of a developing country's natural resources by external actors who use it until it runs out then pack up and go home, leaving nothing for the people who actually lives there doesn't strike me as particularity sympathetic... perhaps I'm overthinking it. Maybe I'm on the outside of public opinion, but the McConnaissance does nothing for me.

Am I the only one, or does this trailer look weird to you all as well? Not bad weird exactly, God knows we have had enough boring oscar bait biopics every year, but this looks like it could be very interesting.

The movie has potential to be interesting, but the trailer is kinda awful.

It looks absolutely fabulous. No big surprise of course, Tom Ford's first film also looked to die for. The cast is damn great and I'm just happy that Tom Ford is back. I was a really big fan of A Single Man. We need this to be good guys, the summer has been so terrible, after quite a promising start, that we need a couple of genuine wins for this to be called a good year for film.

Some fun new trailers:

1) Miss Stevens

Supposedly a fun new indie film about a young teacher taking three students to a drama competition. Lily Rabe won the award for best actress at SXSW, so that is a really good sign.

2) London Road

I don't know if this has already been posted, but it's a musical based on the fall-out the Ipswich ripper had on the people of London Road, where he made most of his victims. It's marketed as a Tom Hardy musical, but he's apparently only present in one scene. The film itself is a bit divisive. A lot of praise for what they set out to do, but not everyone is a fan of the execution.

3) A Monster Calls

Liam Neeson as a monster. The End.
