It's only a distinction in the technical/legal sense. D&D are obviously fans of the series. Some of what they have 'created' on the show would to me clearly fall into the category of 'fan fiction' like 'who would win if Brienne fought the Hound' that is the apotheosis of fan fiction type of scenarios.

GRRM can make his own points. We can make ours. I say Jaime in Dorne is fanfic.

My point is that technically it isn't.

I do think it's them buying time though. As they said in the interview you cited above, they wanted Dorne in so they had to figure out a way to merit it's inclusion screentime-wise and that way was to have a major character head down there.

He sold the rights to adapt the story, that doesn't mean he approves of everything they do. They just said in a recent article, they don't always agree.

They said no contention with George, and all George says these days is 'the show is the show' and 'the book is the book'.

Maybe all we ever hear from him.

But why? When we saw Dragonstone for the first time we had no major, established character there. They're gutting more interesting and complex story - Jaime in Riverlands - to have sexier story - Jaime in Dorne.

Everyone is aware GRRM sold them the rights to adapt the story. You can remind everyone who says "fanfic" about that, but you missed the point. It's a criticism. It's people saying they went too far afield of the source material.

And in that story we'll have more fanfiction: Jaime vs Sand Snakes.

I really don't think Jaime in Dorne will be all that sexy actually. Pia would've been more naked than anyone we'll see in Dorne.

I know it's a criticism, my point was that the terminology is unfair.

Naked doesn't equal sexy.

I used 'fanfic' not to use something harsher and more accurate like for example 'shit writing'. I can start using the latter, though.

There's actually a thread asking book readers they're favourite show only additions and a lot of them have said Crasters Keep.

Yeah that one was a favorite addition of mine. It was good to get a bit more action in that part of the story line. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I actually didn't mind that one either. At least compared to all the other deviations, at least this one served a purpose to make us care more about Jon. Still, it featured one of the worst things in the series - the killing of Locke - a ridiculous, stupid and pointless thing I don't think ANYONE can defend

Season 5:

* I am first curious to know who is playing The Waif , the only other character of importance at the HoBaW. The Waif's background is known but not in much detail. She has apparently been a FM (or is that Faceless Person?) for a long time. She not an acolyte but fully vested. Has she gone on a FM assignment ? One might think so.

I am curious to see if the KM and Waif wear the canonical HoBaW Black and White vestments. The show has a penchant for imaginative subtlety stated design so not sure what to expect.

That door on the House of Black and White is pretty austere in design, I wonder if they will CGI it?

I wonder if Tom Wlaschiha will be at the Red Carpet in London? I think not, they want to keep that as a surprise? Which it isn't any longer.

And, a Girl hadn't even thought of that, I am now going to have a temper tantrum because I expect you are correct and they are still keeping Tom under wraps. :tantrum:

Still, they could let him do a friendly visit for the premiere of his FORMER, cough cough, show. I will offer sacrifice to He of Many Faces, I SWEAR IT!! :leer:
