'The Frankenstein Chronicles’: Sean Bean To Star

Mere days after ordering Midwinter of the Spirit as their first original drama series, the fledgling channel has green-lit The Frankenstein Chronicles, a new take on the Frankenstein Myth which has veteran actor Sean Bean attached to star.

Stuart Graham will play Forrester; while Tom Ward has been cast as Home Secretary Sir Robert Peel. Rounding out the cast is Anna Maxwell Martin, Charlie Creed-Miles, Ed Stoppard, Elliot Cowan, Hugh O’Conor, Joe Tucker, Kate Dickie, Patrick Fitzsymons, Richie Campbell, Robbie Gee, Ryan Sampson, Samuel West, Shaun Mason, Steve Wilson, Steven Berkoff and Vanessa Kirby.

Described as a mix of the investigative and horror genres, The Frankenstein Chronicles is set in Regency London in 1827 and follows Inspector John Marlott, a talented investigator who discovers what at first glance appears to be the body of a dead child, but on further examination proves to be a crude assembly of body parts arranged in a grotesque parody of a human form. The Home Secretary Sir Robert Peel then recruits Marlott with one mission: track down the perpetrator of this heinous crime.

Sean Bean, whose long list of television credits include Game Of Thrones, Missing and more recently the TNT spy drama Legends (pictured above), is set to topline The Frankenstein Chronicles as Inspector Marlott. The character is described as having a formidable reputation as an investigator and being known as a man who “doesn’t know the meaning of fear”.

The six part series is being written by Benjamin Ross & Barry Langford and hails from independent production company Rainmark Films. David Tanner and Carol Moorhead are producing, with Tracey Scoffield and Frank Doelger on board to executive produce. Co-creator Benjamin Ross will also direct the drama, which is receiving funding from Northern Ireland Screen and is set to begin filming in Belfast in January.

I am slowly preparing for Fall TV season, but I haven't seen anything that might be great thing to watch. Even last year with "Marco Polo", "Galavant", "Forever" and "Scorpion" was semi-interesting ("Outlander", "Agent Carter" and "Daredevil" make the year rather good. Still to watch "Klondike", "Wolf Hall" and "Better Call Saul" which made the year even better). This year... Nothing.

I'm still pissed that that was canceled.

I have to say I liked that show. Gruffudd made for an interesting lead and the show, with all its flaws, was always must-see for me.

Both leads were great, and it had significantly better ratings than everything else that ABC has tried in that timeslot-of-death in recent years.  Its cancelation makes zero sense to me.

I'm looking forward to Fargo Season II, The Affair season II, and Last Kingdom.
Do HBO and Netflix not have any worthwhile dramas for the remainder of the year, that seems hard to believe. AMC, are they jut finished now that Mad Men and Breaking Bad are over?

There must popular show is still on, it has a brand new spinoff that's doing very well. They also have the US rights for the extremely excellent Humans, and new series Into the Badlands and Preacher (and a miniseries based on a John le Carré novel - The Night Manager - starting Tom Hiddleston).

Humans is excellent and I'm excited about Into the Badlands, such a risk. And even though Halt and Catch Fire is likely cancelled, season 2 was right up there with the best of the shows of the year.

Season 2 was good (but fuuuuuuuuuck Gordon), and yeah, I don't see how it gets renewed, the season ended over a month ago.

What about HBO? Leftovers season II and that's it?

By most popular show were you talking about AMC's Breaking Bad?

The Night Manager is scheduled for 2016 apparently. As is Preacher.
