Watch, Watched, Watching: Give Me All The Bacon & Eggs You Have!

I've seen one F&F movie (the second I think?) and wasn't impressed.

Judging the F&F movies by the second (did it have Eva Mendes in it?) is like judging James Bond by Die Another Day.

Though I think one enjoys it more if you watch it just after a viewing of the Starsky and Hutch movie (or perhaps just before, to make Starsky and Hutch more amusing). Those films came out quite close to each other, and somehow Starsky and Hutch manages to be a perfect parody, right up to the ending stunt.

Never seen point break. :P

just seems cheesy and misogynist and i'm not into that tbh. surprised i love indiana jones as much as i do, but that's different. indiana jones is awesome :P

As for the cornetto trilogy, as a self titled 'bit-of-a-goth' I kinda loved Worlds End. :P If only for the Sisters of Mercy references LOL

Well, it is cheesy and misogynist, but enjoyable if you can shut that part of your brain off for the duration of the film. If you ever decide to watch one I'd recommend Casino Royale. Craig isn't my favourite Bond, but it's a pretty great film. (and, y'know, Eva Green just improves everything). Definitely ignore the Pierce Brosnan ones, though I do quite like Goldeneye, if only for Xenia YesYesYes Onatopp

Nictarion, Skyfall has a scene I always feel concerned about
Where Bond recognises the woman in the Casino as a former Sex Slave, and her purpose from that point on is for James to have sex with her, and then for her to die. Something about the situation....yeah, troubles me
Hm, maybe I'll watch them again at some point then. The reason it was the second one was because I was flicking through TV, I would usually watch in order

Completely agree about The Master Veltigar. Especially about how great the two leads were, and how visually stunning it is.

This guy has a pretty good analysis if you're interested; https://youtu.be/06Jg1EoXSy4

That was a really good analysis. I disagree somewhat on his interpretation of the final shot, but the rest of it is pretty much how I would describe it as well. I also really liked the film references, but there was one thing that puzzled me. In this small analysis, there were like two scenes I don't recall. The one with the torpedo and the one where Joaquin Phoenix pulls out that gun. Is that just a case of me missing those scenes or is there some longer cut of this film or something?

Excuse me while I vomit.

You obviously suffer from traumatic memories to a past life at this very moment :P You should find someone to process you :P

Worlds End is, um, very poor imo. Quite a noticeable dip in quality from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. Out of those two I'd be hard pressed to choose a favourite. I enjoy both of them, but in different ways I guess. I'd probably lean with you though and say Shaun of the Dead is slightly better.

My running theory is that At Worlds End feels so forced because it was specifically devised to be the final chapter of the Cornetto trilogy, while Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead on the other hand are their own very specific kind of creature, which were only seen as part of a whole after they were made.

As for F&F/James Bond, I've seen one F&F movie (the second I think?)

To be fair on F&F, the second one is really atrocious in comparison to some of the other instalments. Three is pretty meh, but one and five are pretty good.

EDIT: Ninja'd by Polishgenius :)

As for F&F/James Bond, I've seen one F&F movie (the second I think?) and wasn't impressed. James Bond I love, partially because growing up my parents had it on practically every weekend (also explains my love for other older stuff like the Carry On! Films and older British Comedies like Are You Being Served? Etc.)

Very random question, but have you ever seen You Rang M'Lord? I really liked that one as a kid, but it seems to have flown under the radar for the most part, since it's not nearly as famous as Are You Being Served.

IIRC you're a fan of Keanu Reeves, you should definitely check out Point Break. It's a classic.

Wrt James Bond, the early ones are pretty sexist (Connery is the best Bond though), but the newer ones aren't really like that. Goldeneye, Casino Royale, and Skyfall are all great imo. I definitely recommend them.

I prefer Daniel Craig :P And I have a soft spot for Pierce Brosnan as well :leaving:

Ugh, yeah that scene was disgusting. Skyfall is a pretty overrated film in my opinion. Directing and acting are great, but the story is piss-poor really. The Home Alone act, the stupid plan of the villain (even by Bond standards), the throwback to the rapey Bond of yore and the waste of a huge event in the Bond mythos really hurt that film. I'm looking forward to Spectre, because it will be acted and directed extremely well, but I do hope the story is better this time around.

Veltigar,

As far as I know there's only one cut of The Master. I'm not sure about those two scenes tbh, it's been a while since I've seen it. If you pretty sure they weren't in the movie, perhaps they're deleted scenes that are on the DVD? :dunno:

Casino Royale was basically Bond's Batman Begins. A big part of Skyfall's problem was that it tried to marry the same aethsetic with old-school cheesy Bond and it just went all awkward.

I think I have found the explanation. According to IMDB's trivia, the trailers contained a lot of footage that wasn't in the film. That explains the scene with the revolver, since that was in every trailer. I probably just missed the scene with the torpedo in the movie :)

Hmmm, I don't know about that. The final act was definitely cheesy due to the setting, but there were some huge dramatic consequences that you wouldn't expect in your typical cheesy Bond flick. It was more than just the aesthetic and story not fitting together, although I guess that definitely played a part in the third act.

I've not seen You Rang M'Lord, though it seems like the sort of thing I would enjoy. I have the entire AYBS box set and I still laugh every time I watch it :leaving:

Craig is okay, certainly when it comes to action scenes he is far beyond the previous Bonds, but definitely not the best all around. And Pierce Brosnan, just...no. Your credibility just plummeted Veltigar

Apart from that scene, I really enjoyed Skyfall on a first and second watch through, but after that I began disliking it more and more. Plus they killed Judi Dench. Nobody kills off Judi Dench :( I agree with your Home Alone opinion. Quantum of Solace I don't like at all.
I'm also really looking forward to Spectre, the trailer looks great. I hope this isn't a flop.

I think Pierce gets a bad rap. He was a good Bond imo, but was in a few mediocre movies. Excluding Goldeneye, which I think is great. It's definitely one of my favorites.

I'd rate them:
Connery>Craig>Brosnan>Dalton>Moore>Lazenby

I'm probably in the minority on this, but outside of Man with the Golden Gun I'm not too big on Grandpa Bond aka Roger Moore. :P

I love Goldeneye, but even there I wasn't sold on Brosnan as Bond. You might be right about the bad movies being partially to blame though. My order would probably go Connery>Dalton>Craig>Moore>Lazenby>Brosnan. In terms of "Bond girls" I don't think anyone else comes even close to Vespa

My list looks quite different than yours

Moore>Connery>Brosnan>Craig>Lazenby>Dalton>(Nivens/Sellers/Andress)

I know this is an extremely unpopular list, but I was a child in the 70's going to theaters, and Roger Moore was Bond. His interpretation of the role is what originally brought me to love the franchise. To this day, when someone mentions James Bond, his is the face I see.

Brosnan is rated so high for me because he is a suave Bond, not unlike Roger Moore and that is the Bond I personally like the best.

Dalton is rated low for me. I really enjoyed the movies he was in, but they were the least Bond like movies out of the entire series to me. He was more of a gritty action star than what I imagine Bond to be.

Finally, the cast of the original Casino Royale movie brings up the rear for me as this really wasn't a Bond movie at all.

:Agree: Hard to compete with Eva Green. I love Xenia Onatopp too though. :D

Just finished the new episode of Another Period. This show is so weird and I love it. It was nice to see Ben Stiller on the show and there were some truly dirty jokes on this episode.

He's the only Bond ever to get backed by Hagrid so that makes him way cooler than pretty much everyone except for Craig :P

I was always a fan of Elektra King and even more so of Christmas Jones :p
