AncalagonTheBlack
I like this: Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita, Mane, Salah, Firmino. Subs: Mignolet, Lovren, Milner, Henderson, Moreno, Shaqiri, Origi.
Mark Antony
Keita/Fabinho/Wijnaldum. Happy with that
Iskaral Pust
Southampton is a tough game. They're in great form since their new manager arrived, growing in confidence as results improved. Plus they are desperate for points and have a great opportunity to climb the table after midweek results really favored them. Liverpool need good focus tonight, and hopefully everyone is on their game.

Shane Long will replace Ings and he's scored just 1 goal in 19 this season. Jack Stephens (in place of Vestergaard) - he will have to stop Mane,Firmino, Salah Vestergaard is playing. Long replacing Ings is a downgrade, but Long still has the pace and fitness to press, harry and offer an outball. Redmond and Ward-Prowse are the real goal threat, plus you've had some long range hits from other MF players. And Bertrand against TAA will be a close battle. I'm taking nothing for granted. Liverpool have a very bad record at St. Mary's. And The Dell was a notorious bogey ground for us for a long time.
polishgenius
Southampton are getting unseemly amounts of space here, it's ridiculous.

Philokles
Poor goal for Southampton to give away - clear offside and less than ideal keepinng from Gunn. Came after a Keita pass back to a defender as well.
Mark Antony
I think Wijnaldum was much worse than Naby that half .

Completely,he looks as if he's running on empty, he was literally strolling around, has not even put in a single hard tackle etc.
AncalagonTheBlack
Also, TAA is a becoming a defensive liability.Firmini giving the ball away often does not help and Matip needs to use his head and not let Long pull him out of position.

A Horse Named Stranger
Doesn't matter. Get rid off Klopp, Wijnaldum, Firmino, Keita, Milner, Henderson, Lallana, Matip, Lovren, Origi, Mane (in no partciular order). Get Buvac play Sturridge, win the league. I think that's the idea. Iskaral Pust
Soylent -- you seriously sound like my dad. Feel free to support City, or follow darts/snooker/cricket instead, or just play Football Manager or FIFA. This is the best ever league campaign by Liverpool. The best ever. We're punching well above their financial weight and we're neck-and-neck with the greatest English club team of all time. And we got here with a manager who has rebuilt the team, squad, playing style, etc. If you're still miserable and frustrated, then you need to take a look at your own expectations. Mark Antony
Hendo is much better playing in front of a holding mid like Fab instead of playing as the furthest lying midfielder. He’s changed the game since coming on. So happy he got a goal

We've assembled a great group of attackers and defenders, but then we've gone and lost Buvac and it's fucked us. Get a grip man. We’re almost certainly going to get a points total that would’ve won the league the for the vast majority of the history of the Premier League and make the Champions League semifinals. Short of getting bought by a shady petrostate we aren’t going to get any better than that.
Iskaral Pust
@Soylent BrownI have not at all ignored the drop-off in our attacking play. I've mentioned it in nearly every post. But we don't have 10 world class attacking players like City. We have a handful of top players and then a drop off to their back-ups. So it's not a simple question to stick or twist. We play almost the same team every week, with a MF or two being rotated usually. We don't realistically have good alternatives in attack or defense, so players get tired/jaded and opponents can plan for their style of play. Trent and Robertson were poor tonight, but we've relied very heavily on them in other games. We're basically betting each game that enough players will deliver a good performance to get the win, while knowing that some will be below par that day. There are nearly always some having an off day. Only Messi doesn't have off days.

He's not a DM but always looked better a little further forward, making crosses from an inside right channel.

ljkeane
That's Champions League football secured for the third straight year incidentally. Not a small achievement given how competitive the top six has become.
