Consigliere
I don't think Newcastle are overcompensating. That would imply that they've switched to an expansive game plan which is definitely not the case. The biggest difference is that Newcastle are pressing more aggressively from the front in recent weeks in addition to Wilson being in good form and the return of Saint-Maximin. Spurs did not overcompensate either. A porous defence which forced Spurs to go chasing the game from the moment Richarlison gave Everton the lead was clearly not part of the game plan. Vaughn
I guess due to a heavy skepticism about the Spanish soccer press, I always though Bale was treated a bit unfairly while at Real. Perhaps that was not the correct view?
Heartofice
Hasn’t Jose just come out with some comments about bale wanting to see a specialist and not training? He sounded a bit annoyed. That’s pretty standard for Jose. I think he suspects Bale is more worried about hurting himself and not getting a good move after the loan than he is about playing football. AncalagonTheBlack
BREAKING: It’s unlikely Liverpool will end up playing their Champions League second leg tie against RB Leipzig at home. German rules state Leipzig would have to quarantine for 10 days upon arrival back, they can’t. (@TimesSport) @LFCTransferRoomBarcelona will seek to avoid using Coutinho for the rest of the campaign in order to avoid paying €5M as part of an appearance clause in his contract when he was bought from #LFC. The Spanish giants are in deep financial trouble with millions in debt. [@OnzeTv3- Javi Miguel] Ismailia Sarr’s agent says #LFC could not put €40m together to sign Ismailia Sarr in January: “Everything was done, the salary and the length of the contract. I even asked Mané to find him an apartment. In the end, Liverpool could not put €40 million on the table. [PanAfrican] https://t.co/Yuzw4LbSGQ Jürgen Klopp wants Raphinha at Liverpool. The German boss sees the Brazilian winger as a perfect backup and potential replacement for Mané & Salah. Leeds know it will be very difficult to keep him if Liverpool decide to try and take him. [@SPORT] NEW: Mönchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria has refused to sign a contract extension and is likely to leave at the end of the season. Liverpool are especially keen with his contract expiring in 2022. The German side already brought his replacement in Kouadio Koné. Soylent Brown
Bale has always been a massive softarse. They were worried that he wouldn't make it when he was a kid because of how much knocks affected him. Which is not to say he never has genuine injuries, or that Mourinho isn't being unreasonable, but he's very much on the opposite end of the spectrum to someone like Suarez who's happy to ignore any minor issues because he's desperate to play. It's weird though because if he wants to be play real minutes in games that matter, he should be out there proving his worth, through knocks, right? If he just wants to go to MLS and cash checks, he could have just stuck with the golf in Madrid.
A Horse Named Stranger
Moving to Germany football news. Which usually means Bayern news. Upamecano to Bayern seems to take form. Bayern's plan for next year evolves around a CB pairing of Süle Upamecano. World Club Friendly competition: Bayern will play the finale without two players. Müller has tested positive for Covid. And Boateng has left for Munich after his ex, Kasia Lenhardt, was found dead in a hotel room (suspected suicide). Usually I don't really delve into the private life of players with more than 1-2 sentences (lack of interest on my part). In the case of Boateng, I'll take an exception. Lehnhardt was a former contestant of Germany's Next Top Model, after her appearence there she faded away from the public eye. Then she entered into the relationship with Boateng. The couple broke up 1-2 months ago. Each side claiming they ended the relationship. So far, so good, so boring. Boateng then went on to give his side of the story in via Bild. Basically describing Lenhard as a homewrecker who destroyed his family. She befriended his ex to meet him, and then blackmailed him into a relationship with her. The effect was exactly what you'd expect. The fiendish woman received online abuse and death threats. If you were interested in that sorta thing, you apparently could get all the dirty details of their split up, and exchange of accusations throu the gossip media of your choice. Daemon the Leaner
In France news (PSG news): Mad to believe Pochettino started Neymar, whose record of missing big CL encounters through injury is unmatched, in a Coupe de France round of 64 against second division side Caen. Guess who's gonna miss the Barcelona game then.
polishgenius
Apparently Neymar has missed 40% of games and 49% of minutes available since he signed for PSG. Mental.
A Horse Named Stranger
Gladbach players seem to be the talk of the summer. Zakaria's refused to sign an extension thus far. Neuhaus has a release clause (40m € rumoredly) with a pack of heavyweights interested (Bayern (ofc), Liverpool, City, Juve, and Dortmund want him too). Thuram rumoredly also has a release clause (above 30m €). Marco Rose also has a release clause in his contract, if he leaves this summer. And Ginter wants to see what happens, before he commits his future. On a Rose related note. Terzic seems to be losing the trust of the locker room rather quick. With players questioning, whether they'd be any worse off, if Favre was still in charge. In other news. Freiburg have (unsurprisingly) extended their contract with Streich, who will go into his 11th season as manager. Details like contract length were not disclosed (as usual with Freiburg).
