A Horse Named Stranger
20 hours ago, baxus said: And as far as big clubs having a bad season, we have Liverpool, Chelsea and United all performing below expectations (unrealistic as some of those expectations may be), and we can say the same for City, too. Not that City is out of the title race or anything, but with the squad at their disposal and having one of the best managers in the world, we all thought at the beginning of the season they'd be running away with it at this point already. About Chelsea and United performing below expectations. Are they? Both had a rocky start to the season, with quite a few changes to the team, and players arriving relatively late and effectively they were robbed of two points against Spurs. That's why I felt the Tuchel sack was harsh. Potter is footballing wise quite similar to Tuchel, the difference is primarily on a social level. Just now the team has played a few more games together. United added Antony and Casemiro after the start of the season and Ten Hag himself was also new. The only real underperformers thus far have been Liverpool. You can also more or less explain why they are struggling this year. (extremely long campaign with them playing pretty much every game they could ending on a rather low note, add a short break and shortened pre-season (due to that moronic sport washing festival next month) and you have the ingredients of how the high intensity approach is not working that great this season). Besides, I don't think Heysel is as present as Hillsborough in the minds of English football fans. It's a conflation of the two. The graffiti on the door refers to 'justice for the 39', which means Heysel via reference to Hillsborough, and 'murderers' thrown at Liverpool fans usually refers to that- but invoking the Sun gets more of a reaction, so the scummy chanters do. It basically comes down to 'you must be responsible for Hillsborough coz you were for Heysel'.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to see many players holding back or feigning injuries in the last couple of weeks to avoid the risk of missing the tournament entirely. A Horse Named Stranger
And some more or less small scandal surrounding last nights cup match Waldhof Mannheim (third tier these days) vs. Nürnberg. The matchday anouncer did an in memorian bit. He named two people. And not it wasn't something silly like Iron Man or whateffs. One person he named was Neo-Nazi, who represented the far right NPD in the City Council, had felony convictions for assault and drug dealing and was barred from the stadium between 2014-16 by the club. Yes, Waldhof has rep to have more than their fair share of far right fans going back to the 1980s (if not earlier). The club would love to shed this image so they were eager to distance itself from it (as the announcer).
A Horse Named Stranger
1-0 up at HT in Freiburg. I don't think we will eliminate Freiburg, but just have to hang for 45 more minutes to qualify for the next round. Ten more minutes, come on hang in there. Why bother? Equalizer for Freiburg (90+3). ET. Worst outcome.
Rorshach
Well, now. DCL starting again. Considering all the wingers we play with, that should be a plus, but he's been out for so long I expect him to have a very quiet game from. Expecting a loss. Rorshach
Not clicking offensively at all. And today Iwobi seems off his game, sadly. I'd try Garner for Iwobi in the second, to shake things up, try to get a foothold. But I'm not really expecting much.
