Twice now an Arsenal player was held in a critical moment in the box and no penalty.

Grappling in the box never gets given despite it being an obvious foul. It’s annoying but they are consistent about it.

That’s simply not true. Rodri anyone? It wasn’t grappling, the dude held his neck from behind when going after a cross or pulled him down with a fist full of jersey when ball was right in his path. Those have been called many times. Grappling is when both guys are doing it on a corner, neither of those situations could be called grappling.

Well, yeah, but everyone was up in arms because they’d never given it before and they haven’t given it since. :dunno:

By the way has the rule about players being penalized if they wave the imaginary card rescinded. Because at Havertz's dive, Collins immediately decided to referee the match.

A draw or a Liverpool win, happy with either.  I should be interested in the spurs v villa result but we are miles away from catching them.  Probably leaning towards a villa win just because its nice to mix things up a bit.

So I wasn’t that fussed who won between Villa and Spurs but, on reflection, considering we’ve got to play both of them in the last three weeks of the season we could probably do without the race for fourth going down to the wire. So, yeah, Spurs winning this probably isn’t ideal.

Spurs’ problem has mostly been lack of depth in defence in their squad. So, yeah, not sure it would have made much difference.

Speaking of depth in defence Liverpool missing 4 of their first choice back 5 including the keeper.

Interesting line up by Klopp.

I mean the defense I more or less could've predicted (at least 3/4). I didn't think he would go with Gomez on LB. It was kinda clear he would give Quansah the nod on CB. It would've been weird and a slap in the face of Quansah, if he had moved Gomez there for this, when he hadn't played there all reason just so that Quansah would not play.

Midfield was as expected with Endo behind Szobolszai and MacAllister. Nominal the best line up avail.

Salah on the bench kinda hit by surprise. That means Salah is probably not fit for 90 minutes. So he will make a cameo on the 60th or later, depending on the scores, if none of his forwards pick up an injury.

As noted yesterday VAR just ignores grappling in the box but it’s getting ridiculous. Teams have obviously noticed and are taking advantage. City’s set piece move there completely relies on Ake just shoving Liverpool’s front post defender out of the way. Bah.

Ederson also made a genuine attempt to play the ball so a yellow card+penalty was appropriate. Not attempting to play the ball (like, say, a shirt pull or cynical trip) in that type of situation would be a red card+penalty.
