[Book Spoilers] Pre-air Discussion

They actually have mentioned the Faceless men on the show. In Season 1, in Doreah's discussion with Viserys in the tub, she describes once seeing a man who could change his face like another man would change clothing. Not a big mention but it's not like they talked any more about the Faceless men in the books to this point than an offhand mention either. That didn't diminish the effect of Jaqen's face change when I read it.

And FYI, the actor playing Jaqen mentioned in an interview that he had filmed a scene involving his face being changed so I don't think there's anything for you to worry about.

I believe the FM were also mentioned during the council meeting when Robert was figuring out how to have Dany killed. Someone (I forget who--Littlefinger?) mentioned hiring a Faceless Man and I believe Varys said it would cost a fortune.

Ralph Ineson, the guy who plays Dagmer in the show stated in his twitter that he was not contacted by D&D for the new season. I believe he will be one of Ramsay's victims in the show finale, so he's definitely not Ramsay anyway.

Me, too, hoping for a face change, but then change back ASAP because, as you so rightly describe him, he's delicious. A Man is perfect as he is. Perfect. Perfect.

I think they'll only change his hair. He's a pretty chameleon like actor, and with different hair, he looks completely different. I'd think they'd keep the same actor.

OR - he turns around, and changes height, hair, and build from the back - that way they don't have to recast that role until........ they need to. I hope they don't do that, because I think it's important that Arya SEES his new look. And as you say..... A man is perfect.

Agree. Another good way to change a face is to puff out the cheekbones and jawline (though, a girl wonders if A Man would have trouble saying 'Valar Morghulis' with his cheeks and gums stuffed with cotton balls! Hee!) So, puffy face, totally different hair, thick eyebrows, maybe even a scruffy beard--and bingo! New face.

Note to A Man: Please do what you must do, but then return to your own pretty self ASAP. These girls humbly make this request.

Still regarding appearance changes, Am I the only one that would have liked to see Varys in his various disguises? It would certainly add a much more mysterious aura to the character in the show, as it happens in the books ( however I know that would be hard to pull.

Nevertheless, it was a very happy week since the news of the presence of the Reeds (easily my favorite characters, especially Howland even though he did not appear yet) . For most of the season, I was under the impression that Luwin would substitute Osha and Osha would take Bran to Brynden (since she already said one of Jojen lines).

Also, pretty sure that Dagmer will betray Theon and die. Would still lead to that feeling that the main reason for Theon's fall was listening to advice from the wrong (and extremely cruel) person, and would show Ramsay as a traitor, since he would make a deal with Dagmer and kill him nonetheless.

I totally want to see Varys in his various disguises, and Conleth Hill has a good face for that sort of thing.

The final revelation in the finale will be that Tyrion died in the Eyrie and Varys has been dressing up as him ever since.

Yes, even when they're in the same room talking to each other. He's that good.

I think that they will use CGI and a new actor for Jaqen's face change. It will mean that we will have to wait ~2 years or so to see him again (and then only for 2 seasons, long pause, then him being Pate) and that's all if they choose to follow the oldtown plot from the book which may prove difficult onscreen.

I was thinking before that maybe they'll just push all the oldtown stuff back up until almost right before Sam gets there, that way the non-book audience will actually know who the hell pate is etc, unless it turns out to be important that Jaqen be at oldtown for a certain amount of time before Sam's arrival or something.

The main problem with doing this episode's scene with CGI and a new actor is that he will be hanging around for a few years with nothing to do with the program until oldtown scenes, but I think they will ultimately not be too afraid to do this (after all, we haven't seen maester aemon for a whole season, and if they do those Quaithe scenes later on, she'll only be doing one scene a year or so, etc)

Warden, I keep trying to quote you, but keep getting a 'no permission' message. Jeebus, this site is FUBAR right now...

I follow the 'unsullied' (non book readers) at TWoP pretty regularly, and every time I think about Ramsay *shudder* I try to even imagine their reaction. They've spent these two seasons discussing how awful, terrible, cruel, psycho, nuts, mean, cold, are the various 'bad' characters they've met. And I say to myself 'yoicks, folks, you aint' seen nuthin' yet!' Ramsay is the stuff of nightmares. Freak, par excellence. :ack:

sigh.. still can't quote. Liam, yep, he'll be a shocker. But all along, they've been calling Roose 'Ser Sinister,' and 'Ser Creepy' and 'Ser Suspicious', so the show's done a good job setting up his bastard. Although, to say anyone's 'prepared' for a Ramsay is like saying a mosquito is prepared for a sledge hammer. Reading Ramsay's chapters in the books actually sickened me, and terrified me. Because there really are freaks like Ramsay in the world, our world. Just never thought I'd have to meet one, face to face, in such ... detail.

I like the prediction on this board that there will be "one or two flaying scenes" in the Dreadfort. HBO goes snuff porn.

"

Look. Everyone knows that they did away with the chain so they could film Tywin's horse. AFTER Tywin's horse, I think they will indeed end with a long view of Mance's forces as the three blasts are blasted. Last year they finished with fire. This year they will finish with ice."

Season 3: Could be Dracarys.

Season 4: Stannis against the Wildlings
