I tend to find lots of droolworthy dresses at net-a-porter, like this one!

Ohhhh, net-a-porter. This. This!

Thing is, though, I can actually see myself buying something from Coast. I have bought things from Coast. Buying something from net-a-porter would involve winning the lottery, or discovering an oil well under my house. Look, but never touch. :(

Ini, you have been looking at those for awhile now. I like them, but don't know anything about the brand, either. And I've noticed that Zappo's is higher than most other places.

There are others that are nice too I just like Zappos because I trust them and they're domestic. Otherwise I'd probably be looking at importing Loakes or something. :(

Try the AE shoe bank. You can get factory seconds for 50% with little to no visible defects. Sometimes, anyways, depending on current deals.

Same here - way too expensive! They do have an outlet store - theoutnet.com But even at 65% off, things are still pricey...

Someone linked me to these two a while ago:

http://www.pediwear.co.uk/loake/products/1370.php

http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-info.php?&brandid=6&shoeid=2769

They look good to me and the price looks fine, but I've never ordered shoes from overseas and I'm jumpy in case they don't fit, returns would be harder. Is there somewhere domestically I could get either brand, either in-store or online?

Also, UK men's sizes = US men's sizes - 0.5, yes?

I know both of these brands' names and as far as I know they are considered reasonable quality, right? Is one more well-regarded than the other?

Thanks, I'll look. I haven't seen AE Chelseas I really like, though.

I don't normally look good in anything with a floaty bodice area, and I almost never wear straplesses as I can't wear strapless bras, but when I browse such dresses some of them look gorgeous. :(

This is one I'm drooling over that I could actually wear, from Coast.

ETA: Also drooling over this, but the situation isn't quite the same.

That dress is gorgeous.

I like the look of these loafers but I can't justify the purchase when my existing brown loafers are still kicking, and I also only just noticed that they have a rubber sole. It's not a chunky one or anything but I'd prefer to avoid it. Unless leather (or synthetic, I guess?) soles aren't a thing on loafers? I don't know.

Well the nice thing about Allen Edmonds is you can custom order a different sole if you want. I've had shoes switched from leather soles to rubber ones by them before. You've got to go through them direct, however.

I love going to their shoe bank in Wisconsin. My feet are the sample size and they sell those for about $69 a pair which is a huge huge savings.

As for clothes I have been drooling over...this dress was something I really loved to look at every morning during the holiday season in the Michael Kors' windows. It really was lovely:

Oh, and not to forget - love the boots, Elder Sister!

When I was in NY in November, I saw an awesome men's overcoat in Bergdorf Goodman. Decent length (calf length on a 6ft+ guy) with a little bit of gathering/pleating in the back at the waist, so that it had a bit of shape before flaring out slightly below the waist. it was by Tom Ford.

It was also over $5,000.

I can't find any pictures of it on the web, but it was seriously lovely.

I believe I saw this coat when I was shopping around there in the fall. You are so right; it is an absolutely beautiful men's overcoat.

You and your overcoats. :P Was it something like this?

Wow, yes.

One thing I really liked about Eloisa's Coast dress was that the back was cut in a lower V. I love backless dresses but can't wear them: Keira Knightley's green dress in Atonement was wonderful both for colour and cut, but very few people could actually carry it off.

I'm not completely sure they would fit my body type, but this chick is close to me, so I think it'd look fine http://www.vivienofh...satin-dress/72/

Very nice. I thought about getting this or this a while ago - slightly similar look without being full-on 50s.

Regina and I have an ongoing conversation about party-worthy clothes. This was one suggestion - entertaining but not very danceable. ;)

That's... scary.

Ewww, that Kiera Knightly dress is hideous!!

Have to differ with you on this, Mandy. I can't wear that style at all, but if I could find something in that colour I'd be all over it. This green dress is completely impractical, not to mention more expensive than Aratan's overcoat, but the colours and fabrics are to die for. Somewhat more accessible is the acid green one in this picture.

I'm not sure I want to wear it, but I really, really want to make it.

If you do, I'll model it for pictures. Standing only, because hobble skirts drive me crazy.

Gorgeous! I've always wanted to be able to wear a dress like that, but yeah, you have to be pretty slender, but still not bony - tough to pull off.

I kinda like this dress ---- http://www.neimanmarcus.com/p/Milly-Printed-Mesh-Top-Dress-Shop-the-Runway/prod155360288_cat46170747_cat45630731_/?isEditorial=false&index=74&cmCat=cat000000cat000001cat41020734cat45630731cat46170747

It's springy without screaming SPRING. It has sheer panels, which I like, and a nice fit.

Love the colour of that first "coast" dress Eloisa. I'd live in it if I could. Regrettably, being a shortarse, and tubby with it, it would look terrible on me.

Was on hols but airline lost my bag for 8 days (found today, after I've returned home). As I needed clothes in general, and for a christening in particular, I got

The last one, in particular, looks dynamite on me, much better than I would have expected.

Angalin, I also adore the 'Atonement' dress. It's so cool and elegant.

Like it, but ADORE the black and white Alexander McQueen in the bottom right corner. Wow.
