U.S. Politics: Are You Threadening Me Master Jedi?

Shit isn't good right now. House Republicans are going to release the memo without anyone having access to the underlying information nor any review from the DOJ. House Republicans also shot down release of House Dem's counter memo. And then the House Republicans have opened up an investigation into the FBI and DOJ in order to destroy Mueller's investigation.

We're at a point where the rule of law means fuck all and House Republicans will do whatever they possibly can to destroy it. Not a good situation.

Oh and one more thing. Trump Administration has decided NOT to implement any sanctions on Russia for their interference but instead say "it's working as a deterrent to deals so we're not going to do anything".

If you're happy with the Supreme Leader clap your hands!

If you love the Supreme Leader clap your hands!

If you know what is your place and you worship His Orange Face clap your hands!

Don't you just love the Supreme Leader?

Don't you know that He can see you too?

If you always wear your star and you know how low you are, if you can't afford a car and work is so so far!

If you're happy with the Supreme Leader clap your hands!

The news out of the House today, plus McCabe being forced out, is completely insane. Trump having no interest in the rule of law is one thing, but House Republicans are actively aiding and abetting it. We are fucked.

Why the fuck this isn't breaking news on the news channels and sites that are supposed to serve as a bulwark against the Trumptatorship is beyond me.

EDIT: Ah, there it is on WaPo. "House committee votes to release memo alleging missteps by FBI in Russian probe."

Wow, thanks for a headline that completely misses the big picture.

Honestly, at this point, even if the blue wave is allowed to run its course and all that, how does the House, and hence the US, ever go back to working on a bipartisan basis after a stunt like this. This is absolute subversion of the rule of law by an entire party in Congress.

I mean Lindsay Graham, John McCain, and Jeff Flake have to shut down the government right? That's the only play left.

They have to get all the R's in the Senate to preserve the barest veneer of Democracy, but if this goes unanswered by Sessions and the FBI doesn't nip this shit in the bud then there's nothing left. They'll nuke the filibuster permanently the moment Dems finally take a stand.

Listen to me Larry, the Republicans have just decided to release The Memo, and the Democrats on the congressional Intelligence Committee just found out the Republican majority unilaterally opened investigations into the FBI and the Justice Department.

This is actually scary shit. The Republicans are crossing some serious red lines and there will be no going back from that.

Yeah, there was a very serious old man saying that this is the point of no return for Democracy in America. He seemed honestly confused as to why Republicans wouldn't be like they were in Watergate.

The now-close working partnership is not as surprising as it might appear. Before the election, I argued that the Republican party was evolving into a synthesis of libertarian ends and authoritarian means. The party’s core elites were motivated by an economic agenda that bore little support among the voting public. Indeed, libertarians have understood this problem for decades; many of them see democracy as a process that enables the majority to gang up on the rich minority and carry out legalized theft through redistribution. Their highest notion of liberty entails the protection of property rights from the democratic process, and they have historically been open to authoritarian leaders who will protect their policy agenda.

…Kelly held separate meetings or phone calls with senior Justice Department officials last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to convey Trump’s displeasure and lecture them on the White House’s expectations, according to the people. Kelly has taken to ending such conversations with a disclaimer that the White House isn’t expecting officials to do anything illegal or unethical.

After Trump’s strong reaction on Air Force One over the Boyd letter, White House officials, including Kelly, sprang into action again, lashing Justice Department officials Thursday over the decision to send the letter, according to the people.

It’s been said a kazillion times, but bears repeating: if Watergate happened today, Watergate woudn’t happen.

Worse - It is happening today. Putin is a crime lord and he is financing Trump. The American present is in criminal kahoots with a murdering modern-day Stalin who just arrested his main opposition leader, all the while with the explicit support of the Republicans.

Why the fuck isn't James Lankford the face of the R party? I've never heard of this tall glass of ambien before, but this dude just managed to sidestep denouncing Nunes while making his distaste clear. Then he gave a 97% endorsement of the FBI, slipping in allegations against 'senior leadership' almost flawlessly. He blathered about bipartisan cooperation while casting shade at the idea of compromise, then his coup de grace!

He sank a forty foot J with AC all up in his face on the 'drug war!!!!!!' in Mexico without taking damage by being at all critical of the nation as he demonstrated how ruinous and despotic the southern nation is.

Holy HELL GUYS! I forgot what it was like to have the evil masked.

That's all I want! Just go back to the days when we could pretend!

It seems appropriate that it's Nancy Pelosi stumble bum-ing her way along trying to explain how she isn't responsible for the fall of the Republic.

As a non-American, the Republicans are 1,000,000 times worse than the Democrats. It's not the lesser of two evils, it's one highly flawed party and one actually evil group of Nazis in all but name.

It goes deeper than that. When the Republican party went full-fascist about ten years ago people like Nancy Pelosi were in positions to strengthen our institutions and combat the reactionary elements of the R party in real time. Instead they allowed themselves to be dragged so far to the right in their quest to avoid controversy that Hard Line conservatives quickly came to look moderate when able to agree that the sky is blue and the government should probably stay open.

By submitting to the cowardly among the ranks Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid let the political atmosphere drown in toxins while quietly protesting that they weren't being treated fairly.

Dictatorships aren't unilaterally born. Complicity by apathy is required by enough to imbalance the equation.
