Rhaella's Death

67 posts in this topic

So, with many theories around suggesting Danaerys isn't Rhaella's and Aerys' daughter, but Lyanna's, Rhaegar's, Ashara's, Eddard's, Brandon's and whoever else I forgot to mention (Mance, mayhaps?), what would be your guesses on how and why did Rhaella die?

She died giving birth to her daughter, Daenerys Stormborn, on Dragonstone.

What? No! Surely you meant something like Barristan + Rhaella = Danaerys Storm(born), right? Because what you say surely isn't true because that's what's written in the boks <_<

Or perhaps Euron + Rhaella = Danaerys Stormborn? Because he is the storm, first and the last.

Many people believe that Rhaella was indeed pregnant by Aerys' child and she did die from childbirth, but people can't agree on whether the child was spirited away or died with Rhaella.

Ashara's stillborn is actually Rhaella's? Now this is more like it.

LOL, if Rhaella had given birth to a stillborn child said child would have gotten a name and would have been burned along with his or her royal mother in the courtyard of Dragonstone.

But thinking about that - where the hell is the proof that Aerys and Rhaella actually are Targaryens?

how and why did Rhaella die?

She was struck by a lightning during that storm. Or not ^_^

She died in childbirth, and Dany is her daughter.

Though if Dany is not her baby, then where is her baby? Maybe it was stillborn. Though why then, people loyal to Targaryens, took some other baby, and lied to everyone that it is daughter of Rhaella?

And if Rhaella wasn't pregnant at all, then how did she died? -> I'm telling you, she was struck by a lightning! <- THIS, or Dany is her daughter, and Rhaella did died in childbirth. No. Other. Options.

Or maybe she slipped on a babana skin, and fell out of the window, into the sea. And there she met Ashara, who jumped into the sea from tower top of Starfall. And it took her nearly a year to swim from Dorne to Dragonstone, with her baby. And that baby is Dany.

Though seriously, people that think that Dany is not a Targaryen, are crazy

Agreed.  Only very few things can be different from what is originally written / what we are expected to believe, otherwise it becomes comical and each twist loses its potency.

She died in childbirth while giving birth to Dany but was pregnant by Varys disguised as Rhaegar who is actually Mance. It is known.

Childbirth

But if you want to go into the realm of possibility, I dunno maybe she’s alive, maybe she’s Quaithe? Turned into a Kraken. She’s Septa Lemore and Mance for all  I know

If Dany is not Rhaella's daughter, then Rhaella most likely died giving birth to a child who was later swapped for Dany. A swap of existing babies could have been accomplished with relatively few witnesses, but even if Rhaella lived in relative seclusion there would be plenty of people - maids, ladies in waiting, presumably a maester - who would know if she was pregnant or not, and it's very unlikely they'd all be in on a fake. If a newborn Targaryen princess suddenly turned up from nowhere everyone would be asking questions, so since no one in setting has the slightest doubt of Dany's identity, her mother's pregnancy must have been a well-established fact.

I think Rhaella was undoubtedly pregnant having left for Dragonstone. By way of logic, she gave birth. The only real question is whether or not her baby survived.

Do we have witnesses to the birth? Possibly, but none now living that we know of. Its unknown at what point Viserys first saw his "sister"

Do we have witness that Daenerys is indeed the child born to Rhaella on Dragonstone? No.

We have Stannis's forces arriving and finding a dead Rhaella from giving birth.

Stannis can't find the baby, and is under the impression that some one took the baby and smuggled Viserys and the baby out.

Could Ashara Dayne also have been on Dragonstone with Rhaella? Yes.

Was Ashara Dayne possibly pregnant too at this time? Yes

Is there also doubt to whether Ashara Dayne's child survived or died? Yes

Is the child's sex possibly female? Yes

Could Ashara Dayne actually birthed a healthy child on Dragonstone at the same time Rhaella died during a still birth? Yes

Edit- Could Darry have been mistaken when they burst into the nursery and grabbed the only baby they saw and assumed it was Rhaella's? Yes.

Period. Whether anyone thinks it happened or not, is not the point. The point is, the chances are there.

Is it Varys disguised as Rhaegar who is actually Mance or Varys disguised as Mance who is actually Rhaegar? Because first one requires Mance the NW man to leave for the king's landing from time to time. Which is fine by me as it also explains his "rangings".

Daenerys "Stillborn" Targaryen? Doesn't have the same ring to it as "Stormborn" does.

@Dorian Martell's son is right. The longer it takes for the next books to come out the more baby swap, and other out there theories will be made.

Which despite my cynicism, I don't mind at all. So long as people admit that they're making shit up because they're bored and noticed something that made them wonder "what if...?" and they run with it because there's nothing to absolutely refute it, and it's all in good fun. But then there are the "out there" theories that become the foundation of even more bizarre fan fiction, and that's when people start misquoting the books or claiming George is wrong because what he's said doesn't fit in with their wild head canon. That's when I start to get snarky.

Case in point: OOTGH. Unwatchable. I'm like Stannis grinding my teeth with all the nonsense they spout.

This is actually a really sad mentality that say's more about the person saying it rather than the actual books them selves.

Proof? So any one trying to figure out or theorize what happened in The Hero, And Seven Times Never Kill Man, The Meat House Man, or anyyyy of George's other works, that are complete i might remind you, are sad and just coming up with fan fiction as a result of a lack of content and desperation? Psssshhhhh. Ok.

Never mind that each of those books and many of his like it, are meant to make you question and alot hint at bigger things. Like alot being apart of his 1000 Worlds Universe. But i guess any one theorizing that Meat House Man was connected, must be desperate (Among the other colorful things he has chosen to call people and their thoughts).

Critical thinking isn't dead, it's just dead in some.
