  1. Past hour
  2. You sillies. The best selling car of the 90s was the Toyota Corolla. The VW Beetle was pretty close.
  3. All the bings and bongs in the world might not save you.
  4. That's not what i meant. I meant those types of Russians are as ignorant and jingoistic sheep as the MAGA morons, not that they were Americans pretending to be Russians. Every country has that crowd, unfortunately.
  5. The point of insisting that genuine art can only be made by humans is a way of saying that human creation and human life have intrinsic value, and that this value should be preserved. The practical implication of the -admittedly abstract distinction- would be to consider anything produced by machines as being without value and beauty - as a matter of principle. To engage in a form of "neo-luddism" according to which one would do their best to refuse to support (i.e. give money for) AI-produced material. In other words, it becomes a moral position. Like all moral positions, it would be difficult to apply with rigor, since as you point out, what is man-made and machine-made cannot be distinguished by the senses alone. And like all moral positions, it would easily be subject to ridicule. Until, perhaps, we can use AI to solve moral and metaphysical problems for us. I suppose the day a machine commits suicide is when we will know for certain that AI is sentient.
  6. I like to ask those geniuses to provide a copy of any agreement signed and ratified by NATO to not expand eastward. They generally sputter and say… that’s not what I ment…
  7. Today
  8. Hmm remember when they acquired Pixar for 7 billion and until recently only made original movies? It can be done
  9. I saw that poll too. But Texas is voting Republican. One billion percent.
  10. Speaking of Prime, I’m starting Outer Range season 2.
  11. The dratted thing vanished on me again, but it seems that in a recent poll, 75% of Texans think extremists took over their state - and they are not happy about it. With luck, that may translate into changes come election time.
  12. Alright. This is now officially more important than U.S. politics. What was the best selling car of the 90’s? Scientists! We need scientists!
  13. Some of them might be. I am surrounded by MAGA-types. Several of them are pro-Russia to such an extreme they are literally quoting Russian propaganda - 'de-Nazification,' Ukraine 'not a real country,' NATO a scheme by the New World Order. They complain that NATO broke agreements by 'expanding eastward' and don't care to hear those countries joined NATO because of Russian bullying. Reminders of the bad old days when Russia bossed the Warsaw Pact around and communist atrocities were met with 'Russia is different now.' Fortunately, they are a minority even within MAGA. But, going from word choice and certain 'miscomprehensions' for want of a better term. I think most of them are Russians.
  14. No worries, it’s a good question.
  15. Sure. I wasn't going for an exhaustive list, just some example functions.
  16. Yeah. Me neither. Which is why in less than two minutes I thought it was a dumb thing to bring up and edited the post. But dammit.
  17. That’s sweet, thanks Bird! Honestly have no idea if that’s accurate or not. Just remember they were fucking ubiquitous then.
  18. I was really excited for this one, but ultimately I can't recommend it. The first season is really interesting, the initial twists were really interesting, however it goes of the rails quickly and it's mostly a letdown until the end. I absolutely adore how it introduces us to the main characters and the world they live in, but that's pretty much the highlight. Overall I don't think Prime has many great original shows. What they're best at is having a ton of random of movies you've never heard of for free.
