Arkhangel
My family are having a debate. What colour is this eye? Edited to add: same eyes not in direct sunlight.
DeathYon
It looks.... Green, I guess? :dunno: Maybe it's a light brown and the sunlight makes it look greenish? Edit: Hazel is probably a better word than 'greenish', hahah.
Edda van Heefmstra Ruston
That's probably not the best picture to judge from, but I'd probably call it hazel. I do have a pretty wide hazel boundary, though, so others will probably disagree.* There's a little too much obvious mixing to be amber, and the predominant colour isn't green. For example, I would not call most people's self-described green eyes as green, but hazel, because of the commonly-present amount of colour mix. I also think that it's possible to have hazel eyes that aren't a mix of green and brown, but blue-based, without being something I'd call heterochromatic. karaddin
Aoife beat me to it, I'd say Hazel for sure with the sun screwing with it. https://www.google.com.au/search?q=hazel+eye&rlz=1C1CHWA_enAU608AU608&espv=2&biw=1858&bih=1019&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=hKlEVIuXN5LV8gWe-oEI&ved=0CBwQsAQ
straits
looks like it's between green and hazel. leans a bit more towards green
Solmyr
I lean more on the green side, although I admit it could be hazel. But as we know nothing of the light source, we can't really know for certain.
igrewupinKL
It's brown. Thats how brown eyes with a hint of green look like in the sun. My eyes are the same. without direct sunlight, they are brown. On the other hand if they looked that light brown without direct sunlight they would be hazel. Nymeria10k
I saw someone with those eyes yesterday, but there was no sunlight, so if its natural colour without sunlight is similar I will go with green (the one I saw yesterday definitely wasn't hazel) Hard to tell in this case but I'm assuming natural colour would probably be a few shades darker in natural light, so I'll go with hazel. Tellus Explorer
My family are having a debate. What colour is this eye? Honey? Light brown? Jade green? Or maybe even hazel........ :dunno: ETA Or maybe even chestnut brown
Theda Baratheon
Hazel? But not the best picture to judge.
Nox Irradiata
Just regular brown, in my opinion. The gold of the sunlight is making it look hazel.
Arkhangel
Interesting, thank you for your opinions. It's my eye, of course - I used to have very dark brown eyes as a little girl, but they seem to be getting a lot lighter and also greeny-ish-er as I get older. My Dad has dark brown eyes, my Mum has sort of greyish greenish blueish. Apparently the genetics of eye colour is way more complicated and interested than the boring Punnett squares we all learned in high school. Xray the Enforcer
To answer the OP: Hazel or maybe amber. Tough to tell with that lighting.
Edda van Heefmstra Ruston
Yeah, this browser is displaying it as a lot more brown (lighter brown, but brown) than the one I was using when I posted my first reply. Based on what I see now, I'd say brown. Based on what I saw before, I'd say hazel. Definitely not pure- or mostly-green.
baxus
Brown eyes.Direct sun/light makes them look brighter but they're definitely brown. If you're into the whole "gazillion different colours" you might get a bit more specific, but to me it's just brown. My very brown eyes have become lighter and more like hazel as I have gotten older, especially in certain lights. My mom's eyes were very green when she was younger, and now seem more hazel. as for the picture, hazel
