What's for Dinner #5

OK, so the char siu pulled pork turned out amazing. We had it over rice last night with sliced raw watermelon radishes and cucumber.

Tonight, we got some pre-made steamed buns (the joys of living in a city with a very large Chinese population). Then I made a quick-pickle of regular radishes (sliced thin, massaged with lots of salt, squeezed, rinsed, and then dressed with fresh-squeezed lime juice and left in the fridge for 30 minutes), sliced fresh cucumbers, and made a shredded cabbage slaw (sliced thai chile peppers, muddled the chile slices with sugar, poured in some rice vinegar and some fish sauce, then tossed the sauce with the shredded cabbage). Goddamn. I could have eaten 1,000 of them buns.

Found leftover porkchops in the fridge. Teenager left town, so sometimes there might be....

(wait for it)

LEFTOVERS!

Had them with sauteed mushrooms, rice and plain red leaf lettuce.

Magic 1030 pm fridge find.

What's a good thing to add to cooked brown rice to make it tastier? I mean something ultra simple and pre-made. Mayo? Salsa? Sour cream? Something like that?

A lemon and salt.

Flavored vinegar and olive oil.

Half a diced onion with all of the above.

The leftover fat from any meat you cooked this week.

Anything in your cabinet with a bit of flavor, a fat and salt.

Sriracha, sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce

Soy sauce alone if just hungry.

Melted butter
