Worst dialogue yet

2. You can keep calling the books pulp, it doesn't make it so. There are chapters that are easily as good as some novels that are considered literary classics. The storytelling itself is better than many literary classics. I've just read Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451 and Nineteen Eighty-Four for one of my students' literature exam. While all three make more interesting comments on their immediate historical context than ASOIAF does, they are all rather weak from a storytelling point of view - they have unconvincing characters, a rather simple, often unsurprising plot - Martin is the better storyteller. Their writing style isn't by any means better than that of, for example, the Theon chapters. So no, by no literary criteria is it pulp.

Stephen King was a great storyteller (and one of Martin's favorites) but his stuff is still kind of pulpy. Just because something is pulp doesn't make it bad, arguably it is more in tune with what the masses want.

The dialogue all season long was shoddy half assed and not good enough. There's no imagination or consistency whatsoever. It says a lot when the only strong scene from their finale involved Cersei acting without having to utter any of this garbage

I hate Dorne in the books. It seems pointless and is full of cliché characters. For me, only Slaver's Bay is more painful to read.

I'm not sure how, but the show managed to make Dorne even worse.

They should have just skipped Dorne (I suppose the nipple potential there was too much for them to resist) and done the Riverlands instead. They already have great actors and characters in the Riverlands they could have played off of: the Blackfish, Walder Frey, Edmure, Thoros, Beric, and add in Jaime and Bronn. Plus they have possible new characters like a sharp-tongued Genna Lannister, a younger Frey or two, and maybe Lady Stoneheart to work with. But, instead we get shitty Dorne.

When Joff, before the blackwater, said; 'I'm going to give him a red smile' - that was great to cringe at because audience and writers and surrounding characters could all enjoy the irony and hate that little shit, but I find it unbelievable that the same writers include dialogue like bad pussy without any irony?! It's like a really bad 90s chicks in leather flick.

So bad. It makes me really cringe.

I do like the show for what it is, obviously the books are better but I don't despise it as many critics here do, but there is no defending Dorne in the show - the whole storyline was dire. Even decent actors in Bronn/Jamie looked poor with such bad lines and an inconceivable plot.

Bad pussy is what the public wants.

Finale most watched episode ever. sigh.

http://headlineplanet.com/home/2015/06/16/ratings-game-of-thrones-sets-viewership-high-for-season-finale/

Cersei walking naked and Jon being stabbed and all those articles about Benjen on previously on might have had more to do with it than Porne.

The public collectively hated Dorne.

"Bad Pussy" was such a bad line and so horribly misplaced it actually made it hilarious.

I still laugh every time I think about it. I really cannot believe that they used that line.

That...their Charlie's angels fight with Jaime and Bronn, their slappy hands. Everything the sandsnakes did could go on this list.

The public collectively hated Dorne.

The vast majority of viewers had no idea Jon was going to get stabbed, they had some vague notion that something was up with Olly. They also had no idea of Cersei's walk, and only book readers care about Benjen Stark, he was in the show only part of the first season.

It is what it is. People want "wow", this is why Michael Bay is a millionaire, it's why Orson Wells failed in Hollywood, it's why more people watched NCIS than Breaking Bad for 95% of it's run. People watch GOT for the spectacle, they can't keep track of who is who except for the top 5 or so characters. They like dragons, cool scenes and battles whether they make any sense or not.

Bad pussy sells. I suppose it always has.

I watched this scene with my mother in the room. Awkward.

The line itself was total cheese, but what made it worse was that it came from someone who we're clearly supposed to understand as a character, but who I think I can safely say, none of us do.

I mean, the Sand Snakes/Ellaria are a social commentary on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, right? And Tyene is a tit-baring Raphael...I mean, I just thought, with the sais as her weapon of choice and all...and Raphael WAS the slutty Ninja Turtle...No?

If you guys consider the Myrish Swamp to be masterful writing, then the Bad Pussy should be utter genius.

The Myrish swamp was am apt methaphor for the setting. Bad pussy is not.

Moreover, Cersei's relationship with Teana is indicative of how Cersei tries to be a queen by emulating Robert, and it's an interesting character instrospection. Perhaps in your opinion it fails, and you have the right to think so, but at least attempts to characterize Cersei. That can't be said of the silly lines given the Ellaria and the Snad Snakes.

As for Darkstar - when are people getting that his line makes much sense in context - it even is a witty answer to Myrcella's question. I'm not saying it is a great line, but it is clever dialogue seen in context. He is not defining himself there, but, possibly, even making a joke.

Yep. People forget the whole set up of the scene.

Myrcella: There was a knight called Arthur Dayne

DS: Yes. He's dead. (he's annoyed here already)

Myrcella: Are you the Sword of the Morning now?

DS: No. I'm called Dark Star, I'm of the Night.

After that scene, he implies he's fed up being compared to Arthur Dayne. He's not being serious. He's being trying to tell Myrcella "shut the fuck off" in the most polite way he can.

What's wrong, Bronn? Sea sick?

Nah, food poisoning. I ate some bad pussy in Dorne.

Well, that line was MEANT to be cringeworthy because Joffrey was supposed to sound like a child trying to be a great warrior and a man. That's why Varys and Tyrion pretty much give them a  look.

Bad pussy could have been a good line but the whole Dorne has been such a freak show that it's impossible to take it seriously. It was like the cherry on top of the nonsense Dorne has been.

I can't believe everyone is being so harsh on it. "Bad pussy" was most certainly Tyene's meta commentary on the entire subplot.

To paraphrase another boarder here: The Sand Snakes were meant to be badasses, but instead all we got were bad pussies

There there, console yourself. Just watch the Benny Hill edit of their fight and pretend it was all a PM intentional comedy show https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lsioCjw6130

:agree: Thanks - that's what I meant.
