Lyanna Stark
Can I just agree with Chataya who commented in the last thread that she really wanted all of Lera Lynn's really depressing songs? I totally do too (but can't respond to the comment since the thread is locked). My least favorite life! OMG so emo. /slashes wrist.
Alia of the knife
Yeah, loved Lera Lynn as well. I have to say that I'm still enjoying the season so far. I also have no problem with Farrel living or Vaughns speech. I don't know how eloquent his character is supposed to be. I think it sort of adds to the creep environment. I love McAdams character and that she seems to be able to see right through everyones BS, and plows right through as with the mayors son. And what was his deal again? Anyway, thumbs up. Hayyoth
Jeez this episoode bored me shitless. I have no clue what's going on...land deals blah blah...hookers blah. Someones out to get Vince Vaughn coz reasons or something, thing is I don't give a shit. The closest thing this show has to a relatable character is Colin Farell's fucked up boozed soaked cop, the rest are horrible human beings. But yeah I've just been bored, really bored. Also nice touch showing the sleazy mayor, with like a million potraits of himself, with a picture of him and George Bush in his house, I think they showed the same pic last week in his office. So the evil corrupt politician is a Republican? Lmao very Hollywood.
Azzanadra
I really feel like this show is trying real hard to be "dark" and "edgy" with this new season. To be fair, this kind of attitude was present in the last season as well, but that at least had some merit as quality television. This is just meh. I am loving this show. THEY LIP SYNCED TO CONWAY TWITTY, PEOPLE. This is epic. VV's wife is getting on my nerves. She needs to either turn bad, or do something interesting. I was thrilled to see Fred Ward as Velcoro's dad. I had just watched Tremors on Saturday. :D

kairparavel
I'm holding out hope for Taylor Kitsch to get better, but to me Kelly Reilly is the weak link. They are wasting her. She also seems to be on Benadryl for every scene. As for the Fukunaga outrage, meh. It's nothing unique to take a poke at someone through your film, tv show, song, book etc. Hardly rage-worthy. And I thought he reminded more of Steven Segal than anyone else. What is hilarious is our resident plagiarist bitching about plagiarism. I'm still drawn into whatever the hell is going on so that's all I care about.
Cas Stark
Ugh. Too much going on, too many characters, too convoluted, it's convoluted in a bad way...not a good and interesting way as season 1 was...I'm not seeing improvement, if anything, it's getting worse. There's nothing remotely interesting or comparable to the Yellow King and Kitsch couldn't lace MM or WH' shoes. This is amateur hour.
Cas Stark
Problem is nobody gives a shit about the story. There's nothing remotely interesting or comparable to the Yellow King and Kitsch couldn't lace MM or WH' shoes. This is amateur hour. I have no idea even the purpose of Kitsch character, right now, he's a weird distraction. The characters themselves are not as interesting as last year, these people are damaged AND drab and also fairly predictable in their damage and their drabness. Last year, while both leads were fucked up and damaged they were still sympathetic and extremely interesting and entertaining, never drab. Same with the story, it would be hard to top the crazy symbolism occult tilt, etc. of last year...but a by the books gov. corruption/mob deal gone bad+bird mask and some torture is a bad follow up, especially when combined with the also dull backdrop of industrial CA. So, that is kind of 3 strikes. Character, story and setting all pale when compared to last year.
Fez
I agree about Kitsch. And McAdams and Vaughn are only sort of interesting, but I think Farrell is just as interesting as MM (although not as interesting as Harrelson). And the side characters are much more interesting than last season. Last season, there really were only two characters; they were great, but they were the only ones. This season, although they still don't have a ton of screen time, characters like the mayor and the Russian mobster feel a bit more like actual characters. And I actually find the underlying story this season more interesting than last season. For the simple reason that I always thought in the back of my mind that last season was setting out a premise it could never fulfill, and it didn't, and that detracted from my enjoyment. This season, the show could still mess up the landing of course, but at least its telling the sort of story that definitely could have a satisfactory ending; after all, enough other shows and movies have done it. Also, I prefer government/corporate corruption to occult mystery.

Mark Antony
I tend to agree it's a little convoluted, like I had no idea who that Stan guy was who got killed, were we supposed to know? or was he just Vince Vaughn henchman #3? but one thing I'm enjoying is all the inner workings and schemings of the police. Seems Ray has already won Ani over but it will be interesting to see why Rays Partner was spying on Kitsch.
Pliskin
I am enjoying this season at least as if not more than season one.All the characters are great, and I've always been a fan of Kitsch. So, even if his character seems less interesting, the actor makes it worth it.

This season seems to be setting out to tell a straight story, but the thing is the story they're telling is as boring as fuck.
Mexal
Season 1 had a great hook to draw the audience in to what turned out to be more of a character study than a cop whodunnit. This season seems to be setting out to tell a straight story, but the thing is the story they're telling is as boring as fuck. Basically this for me. Feel like I've seen all of this done before. At least with season 1, the characters and setting felt somewhat unique, especially with the potential for something greater than it was. Even if all of the mystical shit meant nothing, I at least felt invested in the story. This year, I just feel like I've seen it all before many many times. So far, there is nothing at all unique about this, from the characters to the plot.
Iskaral Pust
I agree with that too. I'll keep watching but mostly because I'm not aware of a compelling alternative. There's so many highly rated dramas now that I don't know where to start.
alguien
I liked this episode. This season is starting to grow on me. I'm guessing Velcoro is going to make some sort of attempt to go straight and ends up killed (or almost killed) by Seymon. I love how Velcoro got shot and didn't talk about it with his dad at all. That's Soul Crushing Manliness 101. And I love that the lead non-Kevin Bacon actor from Tremors was his dad. So last season was Cajun Noir with a bit of Ambrose Bierce/Lovecraft thrown in for seasoning, and this season is LA Noir with a little Lynchian/End-of-Times flavor. I can enjoy that. ETA: I didn't know about the director being a potshot at his old collaborator. To be fair, David Simon from The Wire is guilty of this as well. Astromech
Anthologies tend not to do well with large casts. By the time you figure out who the hell everyone is, it's over. This is one of my knocks on this season. Too damn many people vying for screen time. And most of them have serious issues. It almost feels like the characters are playing musical chairs on the shrink's couch each episode.
