Video Games: Console War Never Changes

Well I think that it's a good thing that they decided not to have each expansion "topping" the other in terms of scale. That gets ridiculous fairly fast and leaves the story with nowhere to go. So I don't mind that they bought the stakes down a notch for Pandaria and Warlords. I actually think Warlords could have been done well, pitting us against a ruthless but honourable villain with loads of moral ambiguity. I'm not against time travel - it's been a part of WoW since vanilla. It was just done very poorly.

I was looking forward to a confrontation with Grom as the leader of the Iron Horde. What we got is alright, and a decent set up to the next expansion. We'll see how well they manage.

Fallout 4 combat info

Sounds like they've spent a lot of time improving the non-VATS combat, which is good because that was terribly clunky in 3 and NV. I just hope that they have not spent more time in that than the RPG elements.
Power Armour is apparently more abundant than ever. *sigh*

Everyday, the game looks less and less appealing.

If they turn back on their word and introduce paid mods, I'm officially giving up on the game.
At least it looks semi-nice.
Have you guys followed the influx of Mount and Blade: Bannerlord info what got from Gamescom? Because I'm hyped as fuck for it. Finally, siege weapons! No longer will you simply to build ladders and towers to take keeps and castles!

What??? There is new info for Bannerlord? Finally, I have been checking TaleWorlds website regularly and nothing for months. Provide a link if you can, please.

There's a third video floating around showing off talking NPCs, I'm pretty sure, but I can't find it at the moment.

Thanks a lot. Excepting the voice acting, which right now sounds terrible, the rest of the game looks pretty good. I agree with you on siege weapons. They look amazing. I also liked that you can craft your own weapons. This is something that tends to lack in medieval inspired games. When I go to a smith and have enough coin, I expect the smith to make something according to my own desires, and not just by stuff off the shelf.  :P

Any tentative release date?

Nothing official...Although i heard rumours of a projected early 2017 release date.

I want it before that though, I need it!

Also, I think the voice acting adds to the campy charm of Mount and Blade, I mean, we already had "I'LL DRINK FROM YOUR SKULL" and Butterlords, it's not as if the series wasn't already prone to being ridiculous.

So I picked up SWTOR and played it a little while it was downloading. Went with an Imperial Agent. Seems okay. A lot of it is the same as any other MMO, but I'm hoping the story keeps me going for a while. It doesn't seem like much yet, but I am very early on. I do enjoy that I've been given multiple chances to just straight up kill people in dialog instead of trying to deal with their nonsense. Looks like I only need to spend $5 once to get preferred status, so I figure I'll at least do that. I'll certainly get at least that much value out of the game. Likely won't spend any more than that though.

Really just trying to tide myself over for a few weeks, which should be pretty easy since, if the past month is anything to go by, my current available video game playing time is much lower than it used to be.

I picked it up at the end of June and its been holding me pretty well,  That being said I did subscribe simply so I don't have to do the grinding planet questlines every time as a suscriber you can choose to have story quests give 12x the exp so you literally can get from 1-50 in like 15 hours just following the stories.  That's a good thing because for some incredibly shitty reason bioware thought it was smart to give only one levelling path through the game that both factions have to follow.

Anyone getting the Dishonored Definitive Edition?

So, from what I read, there's no new content / mission / stuff, just better graphics and the whole game + DLCs put together?
I already have the complete package, so I won't get it. On the other hand, the 2-DLCs campaign with Daud is really good, so people who liked Dishonored but didn't get to play them should indeed consider getting the Definitive Edition.

That's called "it would take too much time and money to develop 2 different paths per planet".

I'm likely to only ever have one character, so I don't mind only having one leveling path. If I get really into the game and start other characters, maybe I'll think differently about it. I did spend the $5 to get preferred status and I've finished the prologue for the Imperial Agent. Not too bad so far.

I will say though, playing a bit more of the game reminds me why I hate free-to-play so very much. I vastly prefer a simple buy-to-play and be done with it, maybe have a cosmetic cash shop but that's it. Some of the things SWTOR wants me to pay real money for (or absurdly large amounts of in-game credits) are just nuts; like having a full inventory screen.

Caved and bought Medieval 2: Total War.

Playing as Ireland in the Britannia campaign. Liberated Ireland from the English/rebels, then began snatching up Norway's islands. Confined them to what I believe is the Isle of Man, and played the gamiest castle assault I've ever done.

The garrison was only the general's bodyguard (like 20 dudes), meanwhile two nearby armies (one pretty much equal to me (~700), the other about half as strong) were on opposite corners of the map. Blew open a gate on the outer wall with my cannons then ran my soldiers into the town, and had them quickly capture the other gates. Meanwhile I moved my cannons up, blew my way into the keep and quickly had my cavalry defeat the enemy general and hold the courtyard thing. The two approaching armies seemed unwilling to attack their own walls and so went around to the gate I originally blew up, but were too slow.

Since it was the last holding Norway had, their faction was destroyed upon victory. I'm tempted to go back and see if I can win without abusing the courtyard timer, instead using the town/castle defenses.

SWTOR is worse than most when it comes to having to pay for crucial gameplay like inventory and action bars.

Yeah, SWTOR is way worse then your average FTP western MMO.

It's FTP system is clearly designed to make the free player suffer enough that they pay money to make it stop.

Extra information about Bannerlord in their developer blog. This game cannot come soon enough. Those siege engines, you can place them where you wish at the beginning of the battle.

Then that's called Bioware being incredibly cheap as damn near every other MMO has more than one levelling path. (not to mention usually more than 4 classes)

I'd look at it more like 4 archetypes and 8 classes myself. Once you pick which of the two paths you want for your class they play very differently from what I remember.

My favorite class system in an MMO is still Rift though. I loved the customization and hybrid options.

Apparently, some footage of Gamescom's Fallout 4 private presentation has been leaked, Bethesda quickly reacted by taking out all footage off YouTube, so apparently the best place to find the footage is... on PornHub...

I'm currently at work, but will probably check it out once home, in the name of research...
