It looks like the Portland police didn't take kindly to things being thrown at people: Quote A Patriot Prayer rally in Portland, Oregon has culminated in a police charge on counterprotesters, as a demonstration once again brought disorder and violence to the downtown area. Two hours into the scheduled protest, police moved towards leftwing counterprotesters with batons drawn, and used dozens of “flash bang” stun grenades and rounds containing pepper spray. As they moved on the counterprotest, Patriot Prayer marchers chanted “lock them up, lock them up”. ... As the Patriot Prayer group marched, protesters followed at a distance through neighbouring streets. The charge happened on Southwest Columbia Street, several blocks south of Patriot Prayer’s original rallying point. Police claimed that protesters were throwing missiles at their lines. One journalist, Eder Campuzano, was struck in the head by a full plastic bottle, causing him to bleed from a head wound, which he said “likely came from a counterprotester”. In particular, they love to tell about how Pinochet's military and torturers would fly victims out over the ocean in a helicopter and then throw them out of said copter, to either die on impact with the water or drown long before they could make it back to shore. One of their favorite things they like to talk about when the glorious right wing revolution comes and they win the race wars and yada yada yada is who they'll take for helicopter rides. See here.
