Cersei: Oh no! anyway... * years later * * Cersei makes a 4th kid with Jaime/Robert after Tommen * Into the trash Maggie's prophecy goes. ------ If Cersei was so concerned about the above prophecy + valonqar, why didn't she have a 4th kid to prove to herself the prophecy is all nonsense? But the death of Joffrey opens the way for another child who will be the third child. Myrcella, Tommen, and the future baby. That's if you want a loose interpretation of prophecies. Maybe she feels like she can always have that 4th kid and break the spell, but doesn't want to try for fear of learning that she can't have any more which would prove to her that the prophesy will come true. After three children there is a good chance that Cersei cannot have anymore. The womb can get pretty mangled during gestation and childbirth, otherwise women all over the world would be churning out another child every year or so. You do know how much simpler life would be if sex was 100% guaranteed to result in pregnancy? No more debates about contraception, no more fertility clinics, no more questions about whether two people had sex or not, the list goes on and on. I don't think it's all that bad. Martin did a pretty good job of making it feel consistent with what we already knew about Cersei. It actually helps better explain her hatred of Tyrion.
