New Paul Thomas Anderson film allegedly "confirmed" to be modern take on Pynchon's Vineland.

Absolutely love the book and PTA did a great job with Inherent Vice, so pretty excited about this.  There have been rumors about this for years, the photos from the sets floating around seem to have Leo as Zoyd.  Would have though he's too pretty to be Zoyd but he looks scummy enough in the pictures.  Fuck yeah.

Chase Infiniti as Prairie Wheeler, would be the assumption.

Would be really funny if they got Uma Thurman to play D.L. Chastain.

Written and to be directed by Natasha Kermani (Lucky, V/H/S/85), the film set against the backdrop of the War of the Roses follows Anne (Turner) and her mother-in-law Morwen, who live a solitary, harsh life on the outskirts of society. But when a man (Harington) from their past returns, he will set off a sequence of events that become a turning point for Anne.

As far as I can tell it's not based on a book.

Prey Director Dan Trachtenberg to Helm New Predator Movie Called Badlands

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new movie is titled Badlands and is set to begin production this July. Trachtenberg also co-wrote the story with Patrick Aison, with Aison penning the script.

While we don’t know much about the plot of Badlands, we do know that it’s not a sequel to Prey and takes place in the future. Like Prey, however, it’s also rumored to star a female lead.

Murderbot Adaptation Fleshes Out Cast with David Dastmalchian, Noma Dumezweni, and Others

The Apple TV+ adaptation of Martha Welles’ The Murderbot Diaries series is moving full steam ahead. In addition to the news that Alexander Skarsgård will be playing the titular Murderbot, we’ve found out some other actors who will be on the call sheet for the production.

Deadline first reported the news that David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Dune: Part One, in which he is pictured above) has joined the cast as Gurathin. In the books, the character is an augmented human who at first doesn’t get along with our favorite SecUnit but eventually comes to hold a grudging respect for it, although the two never seem to stop taking jabs at each other when they can.

We’ve also found out, again via Deadline, that Noma Dumezwani (The Little Mermaid) will be a lead opposite of Skarsgård’s Muderbot as Mensah, a scientist who is also considered to be Murderbot’s favorite human.

There’s also news about four more actors joining the show: Sabrina Wu (Joy Ride), who will play Pin-Lee; Tattiawna Jones (Orphan Black: Echoes), who will take on the role of Arada; Akshay Khanna (Polite Society), who will be Ratthi; and Tamara Podemski (Outer Range), who will play Bharadwaj. These four characters are part of the PreservationAux survey team, which Dr. Mensah leads and Gurathin is also a part of, and Murderbot is first hired to defend when the events from Welles’ first book in the series, All Systems Red, unfold.

Still needs Overse, Arada's partner. (And Volescu, but he was the most minor of the side characters out of the group and doesn't appear again). Overse has a bigger role in Network Effect.

The first trailer for the BBC’s upcoming drama This Town created by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has just been released. Set to be released on March 31, 2024, the show tells the story of an extended family fighting to choose their own paths during a time of social upheaval. The show is set in 1981 and revolves around a group of youngsters who decide to form a rock bang in the middle of the political unrest in Birmingham.

The six-part series is produced by Kudas and Nebulastar for the BBC and is filmed on location in Birmingham, along with Knight’s very own Digbeth Loc. Studios. The first look of the show features Levi Brown(Payback) as Dante Williams, a poet struggling to find his feet and deal with all the violence in Midland’s biggest city. According to the show’s official synopsis, it’s going to capture how “creative genius can emerge from a time of madness.”

The name of the show is said to have been inspired by the opening lyrics of The Specials’ “Ghost Town,” a song about the riots that exploded around the UK in the 1980s. This Town is also partially based on Knight’s own adolescence. The star cast of the show includes Michelle Dockery(Downton Abbey), Nicholas Pinnock (Top Boy), David Dawson (My Policeman), Ben Rose, Eve Austin (You), Geraldine James (Downton Abbey), Levi Brown (Payback), and Freya Parks (The School of Good and Evil, Here We Go), among others.

The long-awaited adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s novel “The Mirror and the Light” has wrapped.

In the first images from the production, released by the BBC and Masterpiece PBS, Kate Phillips can be seen reprising her role as King Henry VIII’s third wife Jane Seymour, while Mark Rylance returns as the king’s chief advisor Thomas Cromwell and Damien Lewis as the king himself.

Based on the final novel in Mantel’s award-winning “Wolf Hall” trilogy, which follows the rise and fall of Cromwell, the new images come some 18 months after Mantel’s sudden death at the age of 70.
