Turns out the "openly Jewish guy" was openly looking for a fight.  He apparently goes to all the pro-Palestinian marches, looking for a fight. Twat.

Not a suprise. At Orange Walks, there’s always at least one die hard in a Celtic top who just happens to want to cross the road at that particular time. Or if it’s a republican march, someone in a Rangers top.

How is this an argument? You are basically saying nobody can ever been concerned about anything unless they are equally concerned about everything else and loudly talk about it. Did you even think before you typed that?

Did you even think before you typed that??
A tiny minority of kids cone out as trans. I believe something like 7 kids a year in Scotland are prescribed puberty blockers. But this is somehow a bigger childcare issue than all of the stuff I mentioned??

Of course it isn’t. It’s an excuse for people to voice their transphobia while pretending to be motivated by child welfare.

  3. 54 minutes ago, Heartofice said:

Yes seriously. Not denying there aren’t some bigots out there who don’t like the idea of there being any transgender people at all.

But ‘anti trans’ has been a smear used to label basically anyone with any concerns about anything from gender medicine to putting male rapists in female prisons.

So if someone is going to use that term they need to be damn specific about who they mean. Is it JK Rowling? Is it Helen Joyce? Maya Forrester? Then you need to back up those claims

Oh please! It’s a bit suspect that many of the people screaming about protecting the children from puberty blockers are silent about child poverty, malnutrition, cold mouldy homes, no homes at all, rundown schools, lack of teachers etc

But mention kids being trans, and all of a sudden we need to protect the children

Russell Bentley, a Texan who went out to fight for the Donetsk Peoples’ Republic in 2014, and was an enthusiastic pro-Russian YouTuber, has just had his head chopped off by Russian soldiers, who mistook him for a spy.:D

Apparently they raped him first and kicked him to death? Accoeding to twitter so grain of salt.

  5. he’s also wanting to strip GPs of the ability to issue sicknites and instead have “specialist work and health professionals” do it. Ie people untrained in health basically told to not issue any. Contract probably given to some Tory’s mate.

And ignoring the reason there sre so many prople off longterm is because thry’ve broken thr NHS so big waiting lists, massive waits for services, and long covid.

    Did colonialism happen? Yup
Were other countries resources exploited? Yup
Was this a new phenomenon the British invented? Nope
Can Britain's success by explained by 'colonialism' and 'racism'? Nope
Did the Industrial Revolution as well as a number of key factors play into Britains success? Yep
Has Kemi said anything wrong here? Nope
Has it outraged a bunch of keyboard warriors because the answer is always 'colonialism'? Yep
Is that a good thing? Definitely.

Britain’s success is down to stealing other people’s lands and exploiting the shit out of them.

    Industrial revo-whatnow?

    Nah, must be racism innit.

Where did the raw materials used in the factories come from, such as cotton?

Also many of our universities were funded by legacies left by the rich who made money through colonialism and slavery.

Glasgow has a lot of areas and streets named after such things and people

  8. Today’s my 8th wedding anniversary, and July will be the 10 year anniversary of our first date!

When we first started going out, she made a good bit more than me (nurse) but as she’s been at the top of her band for years, it only increases due to cost of living pay rises.

But I’ve switched jobs a couple times (same organisation, been there 20 years), and I’ve more or less caught up with her ‘basic’ pay - she does get shift allowances.

Never been a problrm but I’m hally to be making more of a contribution

I worked in the same courthouse, the Criminal Courts building, in downtown Los Angeles during the State of California vs. Orenthal James Simpson trial was taking place.  I followed it as closely as anyone could without being directly involved.

OJ Simpson WAS a nice guy, generous, funny, kind to kids, charming, etc. - - - as long as you weren't his wife.  I suppose there are folks who still feel the State didn't prove its case against him, certainly the jury felt that way.  But I feel there were extenuating circumstances that led to him being pronounced not guilty.  He had the best legal defense money could buy, so that played a huge role.   His celebrity also played a HUGE role.

Judge Lance Ito was obviously star-struck too and pretty much let the defense walk all over the prosecutors.  Also, allowing cameras in the courtroom necessarily led to everyone playing to them.  I could write a book about it, but all the books have already been written and we certainly don't need more.  It was a long time ago.  May Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman rest in peace.

In fairness to the jury, when the leaddetective’s response to ‘did you plant evjdence?’ Is basically ‘no comment’, that would make me acquit on the basis of reasonable doubt

You are aware that 99,9% of people would kill to hear that kind of comment, right? :P

Think of it this way, in 20 years time when your friends are grey and wrinkled they’ll all be jealous of you!

Yeah. I got ID’d in a pub when I was 38. I was taken aback but pretty pleased.

Of course, that was a year before my daughter was born, and age has been catching up with me since then

I haven't been able to stop thinking about this.

Surely if the police had uncovered Ring or CCTV footage that supported my version of events they would have told me so, and my accuser would currently be on her way to clinky.

Or is that not how these things work?

I doubt cctv would be good enough to sctually show what happened in your car.

It's probably because people feel more comfortable these days discussing it and DMC is absolutely correct to bring up the scale. Going from 250 to 5,000 is a big deal if your sample is 10,000 people. But if it's a fractional increase it's not.

Yeah. It would be like saying there’s been a massive jump in gay people since 30 years ago. No, people no longer feel they have to hide it or be in denial about it.

I've got no issue with the idea that it's in the conversation. I think anyone who has decided that it is in fact the greatest RPG of all time, especially when they lack much knowledge of RPGs from before they were a gamer, is suffering recency bias, and I stand by that.

Yeah it’s kind of hard to declare something the best OF ALL TIME when one is unfamiliar with most of the relevant competition.

  14. Ultima IV in the 80’s was pretty cool. You had to be good, so stealing, lying and killing was frowned on.

you also end up with thr Skull of Mondain which was basically god mode - onky thing it coukdnt kill was Lord British. But using it wiped out your virtue progress

Did the UK have police stations thick on the ground or something, that so many are getting closed? Are the public complaining?

If it’s an emergency, people will phone 999. Otherwose, the trend is to phone thr non-emergency no (101) or send an email.

That’s the justification anyway, though stations were being visited by the public less. A lot of the stations were old and falling apart/leaking etc.

It’s not just thr cost of keeping and running the station; if it’s open it needs to be staffed by at least a non-cop staff member. If it holds prisoners then it needs cops and turnkeys, food facilities etc. so it’s cheaper to keep custodies in larger offices.

There’s more likely to be an outcry in rural areas, where a shift change means the cops could be ina different town/village
