Ahhh, I see. Sorry, when you said king for some reason that's where my brain went.

I am not sure where they are gong to go with any of it. We have a basic idea of the scope of the over all arc, but there haven't been a lot of specifics. It will be fun to find out though.

IMDB is great for re-familiarizing one's self with a show's cast

True, but I'm feeling lazy. Besides I remember it was King Horik now :p

They spared him for some stupid reason. I just hope he doesn't take up to much screentime. The kid did not strike me as a great talent acting wise. He's a brat, but he's not an enthralling brat like Jack Gleeson's Joffrey.

They cut it out of the US version. Horrik's son was spared because he shared similar views with Ragnar about colonizing England instead of only raiding for plunder.

It's bound to be a bad idea. Hopefully, it's done well.

Where can you get the full version?

I remember watching Season 1 of this show when it came out, liking the subject matter but thinking the writing and especially the pacing was a little but uneven. Season 2 though got me hooked - apart from the kinda awkward 1st episode, it really came into its own as a narrative, loved the whole Athelstan/King Ecbert subplot and the religious commentary that came with that, really wasn't sure what to think of Floki until he pulled through in the end, and one of the most straight up satisfying season finales I've seen in a while.

Also shouts out the #BASED creator of this show for publically dissing GoT when someone implied Vikings was derivative of GoT. Vikings Season 2 blows away the past 3 seasons of GoT easily imo.

I thought his reaction was really funny

Hirst: Game of Thrones is a very, very different show. It is a fantasy show, and it has a lot of things which are very appealing to an audience. It is soft porn, and it has a lot of gratuitous stuff in it, but it’s still very well-written and I don’t — you know, I don’t watch it because I don’t ever want to be accused of being influenced by it. But I know that millions of people watch it and it’s very popular, and the TV world is big enough to have lots of shows in it, and Game of Thrones is not the only other show that’s really, really good. And I have no problem with that.

Like he doesn't watch it, which is pretty obvious since he thinks that GoT is well-written, but he still knows how gratuitous and soft pornlike it all is. Sounds to me like Hirst only watches certain compilations if you catch my drift :p

I think he just said "Game of Thrones is well written" because if you say anything else you're knocking on the greatest show on television right now written by the illustrious screenwriter who gave us such timeless classics as Troy and X Men Origins Wolverine, and he was already implicitly kinda bad mouthing the show. If he'd just straight up said "it sucks" like Orson Scott Card did he'd be public enemy number one...or at least D$D would write in a show only Lannister cousin named Michael who was obviously mentally handicapped and smashed ants as a hobby.

I must say, as horrible as that scene was, I kind of laughed when I heared they were dissing Orson Scott Card. The man's such a bigot, even though he was right about GoT. Still, I would have prefered a somewhat decent scene to the drab they brought to the screen.

I can agree with Season 2 of GOT being weak, but Vikings has not been better overall. The acting is still a little off, the whole my brother betrayed me, he loves me, he is betraying me again, oh no...now Floki is betraying me... It gets a little old after a while. And, BTW I really like Vikings and am looking forward to this season. I just wish I didn't get the watered down US version, hate censorship.

Yeah I agree. I love Vikings, but it's far from good writing. Overall it's a little overrated. I can't wait for Season 3 though!

Just Season 2? Seasons 3 and 4 were even worse. "Lol lets send Asha to the Dreadfort to try and rescue Theon, hold it out for an entire season, then once she gets there make it an excuse to show shirtless Ramsay where she just turns back and leaves, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the the development of any character whatsoever" - the greatest show on television everybody.

D$D are mediocre writers who have only fooled people into thinking they were great because of the strength of Martins source material. And the more they stray from it, the more their works starts to resemble more Benioffs' illustrious previous projects like Troy and X Men Origins Wolverine than Martins ASOIAF.

The whole Rollo thing was a bit dodgy I can agree, but that was more in Season 1 where I admit, the writing was overally pretty shoddy to begin with. I enjoyed the Floki thing though, because it actually kept you interested and kept you guessing. Idk of course this is all just me, but imo...

GoT Season 1 > Vikings Season 2 > GoT Season 2 = Vikings Season 1 > GoT Season 3 = GoT Season 4

I really like both shows. I think GoT hits higher highs, but Vikings is probably more consistent.

Season 1 of GoT is far better than either seasons of Vikings imo. And GoT has at least a few great episodes every season.

Baelor, Blackwater, What Is Dead May Never Die, And Now His Watch Is Ended, Mockingbird, The Watchers On The Wall, etc.

My favorite episode of Vikings so far was probably Blood Eagle. Great episode.
