SanSan next season?

Recommended Posts

Sandor is called the Hound.

He named Sansa Little Bird.

Doubt it would happen in show (HIGHLY doubt), but should a relationship start, and they make a little person..... what would the Hound call it?..... Bird Dog?

(Them making a little person is what I doubt, not the relationship)

Wait, is JonSam going too replace Nedbert?  Oh NOES!  I'm crushed.

Jon may have the bigger smile, but Sandor has the bigger....ah....cloak.    :leer:

When Sansa is reunited with Sandor's big... cloak... they both will have big smiles. :leer:

Bird Dog! I think they will make a little person.

There are hints in the books along these lines. Her being motherly to Sweetrobin ("are you my mother now?"), him being fatherly to Arya, he goes there over and over again, at the same point in the story. And he words the references similarly.

And then on the show, at the same point in the story, there's this (but they never hit them in the books):

Sansa and Sweetrobin ("his mother should have done that long ago")

Sandor and Arya

Wait... you are giving advice to others about what's sappy?

I think I'll stick with what GRRM and the showrunners say, thanks.

GOT is not a sappy romance story like Outlander (*cringe*). Sansa feminists need to realise that.

How would it be different with a romance between Sansa and the moral "main hero" Jon then? How is that less sappy than with Sandor?

ASOIAF is full of romance; Ned and Cat, Jon and Ygritte, Sam and Gilly, Asha and Karl the Maid, Dany and Darrio, and the developing romances of Sansa and Sandor, Jaime and Brienne. Romances pop up occasionally with the minor characters too.

In the show it's been Ned and Cat, Jon and Ygritte, Sam and Gilly and Dany and Darrio.  Bringing SanSan to the show would be a great addition and actually be following the story.

The difference is in the build up. If there is no hint apart from random smiles and sibling reunion, it's difficult to believe.

But I'll also say that they should have put more emphasis on SanSan if it's going to happen in the show, because many people haven't realised it yet, although it's there, because it's very subtle and only if you have read the books and are aware of it you realise it is there since the very first season. However, with Jon and Sansa we have only had a sibling reunion after 5 seasons and neither of them have interacted until this season, and only Sansa thought of Jon once in S5 (IIRC) when she was talking to Theon.

I think what she was saying was that Jon and Sansa would be sappy. He was saying Sansa and Sandor would be sappy, while pretending Jon and Sansa was romantic. Sansa never remembered Jon, Ramsay brought him up. (added more below)

lol....thanks...

well I was trying to say that sappy or not a romance is a romance. Everyone will have their opinion but if the characters want it and the author or showrunners have hinted at it....sappy or not is not the problem.

that's my personal view.

Agreed. Also wanted to add, many people do realize SanSan is there. There are lots of show only SanSan fans. Even the cast noted it, Lena Headey said on the DVD commentary he loves you, and Peter Dinklage started singing the song from Beauty and the Beast (this was during the SanSan Blackwater scene).

Except, evidently, when Jon allegedly starts smiling more, like a sappy idiot, over his new found romance.

He's never been happier. Sansa manipulating and mistrusting him makes his heart sing.

Good thing they dropped that Arya concept, because otherwise there would be this bond where they trust each other implicitly. And not that Sansa matters or anything, but good thing they dropped that Sandor concept, too, because otherwise, get her a dog, she'll be happier for it.

We are wrong to want to see those reunions they have been building up to all series long, we should hope that Arya and Sandor stay in limbo, so they can devote next season to the not at all sappy romance between Jon and Sansa. Even though the showrunners said it was not a romance at all.

If Jon is a zombie now, would a romance with Sansa be incest tho?  Really, I'm concerned about this because Jaime and Cersei is more than enough incest for me.  It's just too sappy.

Has anybody gotten a ruler or tape measure out and started measuring all the Jon smiles since season 1?

Also, in the opinion, what is important in predicting the state of Jon’s romance? Is it the number of smiles. Or is it the intensity of smiles?

Yes, I think if the show is going to portray any romance for Sansa, they need build it up for it to be credible. Sandor has been away from Sansa for a while and he has mentioned her. I guess there have been clues  (ale) that she is thinking of Sandor, but I didn't really get that clue until I came on this forum. They need to make this more obvious for the viewer. I like the show. I know they have limited time for each character, but they need to invest the time if Sansa is going to have a romance otherwise it looks like lust not love.

I got the impression this season that Sansa disliked Jon or at least had contempt for him. Most of their interactions appeared to be Sansa manipulating Jon to do what she wanted.

1. She plays on Jon's sense of family loyalty to get him to attack Winterfell. She first states that she would attack Winterfell herself if Jon doesn't help. Of course Jon won't abandon his family member so he decides to help her.

2. She makes a cloak for Jon. She wants him to look like Ned Stark so that she gain support from the Northern lords.

3. She's upset when Jon listens to Davos' advice. Perhaps she was afraid of losing influence over Jon.

4. She hides the possibility of the Vale army's arrival from Jon. This ensures that the Vale army remains in her or Littlefinger's hands rather than Jon's. Maybe she wants Jon to need her.

5. She tells Jon that Rickon is good as dead despite saying earlier that Jon should attack Winterfell to save Rickon. She used Rickon as bait for Jon. I guess she wanted to make Jon more motivated.

6. She makes no explanation of why she hid the Vale army from Jon and instead apologizes. She knew that Jon would forgive her no matter what she did since Jon really loves his family members.

At this point the relationship between Jon and Sansa is eerily reminiscent of the relationship between Sansa and Littlefinger. If a Jon/Sansa relationship happens, it will be comparable to a relationship between Sansa and Littlefinger with Jon being the Sansa and Sansa being the Littlefinger.

If this happens do you think we'll see a significant decline in Jon smiles and a decline in the length of those smiles as well?
