You could always not watch it.

Believe it or not, they're not out there making tv shows solely for your benefit.

What does that even mean? People aren’t allowed to criticise anything now?

I still watch Rick and Morty, there have been a couple of episodes this season I’ve liked. But it’s on a downward curve.

From it being the show I could watch repeatedly, to being one I’m fine with skipping , I’m not happy about.

Criticism is fine, of course.

It's the halfwits declaring that shows should be cancelled because they're not as keen on them anymore that I have a problem with.

Tbh I’d rather my favourite shows were cancelled than die a slow painful death like the Simpsons.  Better to go out on a high and have everyone clambering for it to be brought back than feeling that lingering sadness every time you watch, trying to remember the good times

I really don't get the complaints.  This season was like every other one...a few great episodes, a few okay to good ones, and a couple that I'll largely skip when doing rewatches.  Could say the same thing for previous seasons, all of which had at least a couple of turds.

It's not the show. It's just that we're becomining used to its humor and mechanisms.

I still thoroughly enjoyed it.  A few episodes didn't land, but there were at least three or four that I'd consider among the best the series has given us, like the snake episode, the one on the train, and the vat of acid.

I'd say season is borderline perfect and I love pretty much every episode. Every single episode is memorable and contains some incredible moments. Interdimensional cable made me laugh more than anything in a long time.

Season 2 is also almost perfect, but I'm not a fan of 'Get Schwifty'

Season 3 is very hit and miss. It's better episodes like Pickle Rick stand out, but it has a couple of seriously bad entries, the whole season descends into a forgettable quagmire.

I haven't really loved anything so far in Season 4 either. The best episode is clearly the train episode. However even watching that, and remembering why the show can be great, I still didn't laugh hugely. It was an episode that mainly just showed that Harmon can be a clever bastard when he wants and that the show is hugely meta, and knows it.

What I said earlier I think is true. The characters and set up don't have enough legs to do another 70-90 episodes. Everything mostly feels like a sort of retread of what has come before, with a knowing wink about how its just a retread. I'd really rather that the show just stopped and left us with a lovely memory, and let Dan Harmon go off and think about something else.

It reminds me of Adventure Time. Possibly my favourite show for a bit. For 4 seasons it was perfect. Then Pendleton Ward got burnt out and left and others took up the reigns. The show was still pretty good, but it was really very different and had a different voice. I never could go back. It also suffered from a lot of commercialisation, with Adventure time stories told in comics and games etc, and it just got too popular. I feel a bit like Rick and Morty is going that way.

Some shows lose their way, sure. Stop watching them! You don't have to endure everything you start watching until the grisly end. Invariably though, if a show keeps going, it's because there are people who still enjoy it.

I think I lasted through about 4 seasons of Dexter before losing interest, but I know others who loved it all.

The Simpsons was mentioned above too - I stopped watching it more than ten years ago, but there are obviously lots of people who still enjoy it

Yup.  If this show ever starts truly sucking I'll stop watching it the same way I did The Simpsons.  I also have not watched that show in over a decade and have no pressing desire to check it out.

I don't think this show is anywhere near that point, though.  Will it stay good through 70 more episodes?  No, probably not.  Hard to see this show existing under the forthcoming reign of Emperor Trump.

I haven't finished the new season but any opinions on Solar Opposites? I feel like everyone always talks about Harmon's contributions to Rick and Morty and I never hear anything about Roliand.

I thought it was amazing. I haven't watched anything past the train episode of R&M. Don't think I need to. That Wall episode? Amazing.

Solar Opposites brings all the zany fun of Rick and North without the misanthropic bellyaching. And the episodes are, like, about stuff. Not just pretending at a deconstruction of the animated sitcom.
