Well, well, well.

Winning when we really don’t look like much. They do count.

Rooney today ended up with a goal and two assists. That is utterly misleading - he was in no way instrumental. First half he was a waste of space, losing possesion and generally looking like he couldn’t be arsed. Lennon gets a pen, and Rooney gets an assist - by missing the bl**dy thing but having DCL put away the rebound.

He then gets his second assist through playing the ball to Sigurdsson, who does everything himself from there - getting infield and delivering a wonderful shot.

And then we get a second penalty - Rooney for some reason the taker (at this point, he has missed two out of three in his comeback). He scores through a bit of luck and a hard penalty - Fabianski being after it, but not getting a hand behind.

DCL worked hard again, Gana was very good in midfield. Pickford did his job well, and Holgate was excellent defensively. Too many bad long balls, however. Less of those would do. Kenny was all right, but not very good going forward, and couldn’t find his passes today. Lennon - well, he was on the good side. Behind Gana for MotM, I’d say - worked hard, had a couple of good chances, got a penalty, played in Kenny who got the second. Good game.

That makes it thirteen points in the last four league games, and we’re up to ninth. Sure, we’ve beaten West Ham (before the recovery), Huddersfield, Newcastle and Swansea - but they all count. Chelsea will be a different beast.

And still there are those who doubt the capacity of Big Sam to work miracles!

Maybe the fat shit stole one of Newcastle's points when we weren't looking, we seem to be falling pretty fucking quickly.

Swansea sack Paul Clement. Not sure who they are eyeing to replace him but I'm sure Tony Pulis will be in the mix. His record of never being relegated would certainly be put to the test if he were to take over.

The problem is their defence really isn't that bad, it's the complete lack of goals at the other end that's the issue. I'm not sure bringing in Pulis is likely to turn that around for them.

True but in Swansea's desperate state the owners/chairman might very well opt for the guy with a proven track record of keeping teams up.

The problem for Swansea is that they really do not have that much attacking talent to begin with. So whoever comes in needs to work miracles in that department.

Pulis makes as much sense as many others, as he’d at least (if he keeps on like he has) keep their defence solid, giving them the opportunity to plunder point(s) regularly.

Or is this the time where you opt for one of those overlooked «young, Britsh managers» that Samuele was so concerned about?

Didn't watch the Bristol/United game since the local broadcasters did not secure rights to the Carabao cup (watched Bayern vs Dortmund instead and followed this on text commentary). By all accounts, we were outplayed and outfought despite putting out a nearly full strength side so well done to Bristol City. The only consolation is that this means at least two less fixtures to worry about.

What a season Bristol City are having. Third in the Championship and semi final of the League Cup having knocked out the holders, Man United. After Tammy Abraham’s loan deal expired, many would have tipped them to be in a relegation scrap; very few would have foreseen them battling to be in the Premier League next season.

Hope the draw is such that Chelsea end up meeting them in the final...
