Paxter
Seven hits off Verlander and eight off Cole...I’m still reeling.
KingintheNorth4
Well damn, last time I checked the score it was tied at 2.
Jeor
Brilliant. That all went downhill for the Astros very quickly. What are the odds of sending Cole and Verlander up at home and being down 0-2? (Well, Verlander hasn't been as dominant anyway but you still would have thought they'd have a chance). Importantly the Nats got to rest their top bullpen arms so they'll be fresh and ready for Game 3 after another day off. You'd have to think they now also have the luxury of using Corbin in Game 4 if they want to have Scherzer and Strasbourg fully rested.
DireWolfSpirit
I'm still not betting against Houston. This thing could flip to being 3-2 the other way pretty easily.

The shift from the bottom of the 6th with a visibly tiring Strasburg laboring against the heart of the Astros lineup to the top of the 7th was extreme. And Verlander gets through that 7th with only one run if Bregman is able to field that Howie Kendrick slow roller. Woulda been a tough play....but I mean he's the MVP. He doesn't and the wheels come off. Went from this intense, grinding pitching duel to Nats fan fiction in the blink of an eye. The last few innings were just a montage of Nats conga lines in the dugout and increasingly ridiculous little league celebrations. It was glorious. Dream first two games of this series. But still feel like this series is far from over. Astros can throw yet another ace at them in game 3 and though Sanchez has been unreal in the postseason, he's a finesse pitcher. He's not going to be able to dial up the kind of killer out pitches Scherzer/Stras did when in trouble. I'm still nervous as hell tbqh. At least Nats park will be rocking Friday night. The Astros' statement about firing Trump Jr Jr said that they got their first response wrong because, in their initial investigation, "eyewitnesses' had led them to believe Taubman wasn't targeting anyone, and they realized he was specifically taunting those reporters after more investigation (and about 48 hours more blowback, but sure). So what eyewitnesses told them that Taubman had just been exuberantly praising a pitcher who blew a save? Dollars to donuts their "initial investigation" was just asking Taubman, "Hey, did you yell at those broads?" A fish rots from the head down, and Taubman was just the assistant GM. Myshkin
The Astros can fuck right off. The way they handled this incident is disgusting from top to bottom. Everyone involved should be fired, if not on moral grounds, then at least for the monumental stupidity of the initial response. It’s a shame, because their on-field personnel are mostly pretty damn likable. But the front office seems to be filled with assholes, and if persistent rumors are to be believed, liars and cheats as well.

Jeor
Houston look like they're focused tonight jumping out to an early lead - they need to win this game, it's probably the most favourable pitching match-up for them. Hopefully the Nats can take care of business though.
DireWolfSpirit
Who is Jose Urquidy.....guess we getting ready to find out?
Myshkin
Looks like MLB has shifted from investigating the Astros clubhouse incident to investigating the Astros response to the incident, namely their attempt the smear the SI reporter. I’m guessing the League Office is pretty fucking livid with the Astros front office right now.
Jaime L
Well this is what I was afraid of. Astros bats were bound to wake up and the Nats' clutch hitting would cool. Didn't expect Urquidy to be lights out but whatever weird things happen in the playoffs. Pretty sure Altuve is hitting .870 for the series. Even his outs take remarkable defensive plays. Brantley too is just murdering us. Now gotta find a way to beat Cole and Verlander again which I don't know, doesn't seem ideal? Let's see if this team still has some magic left in 'em.
