Ran Posted October 29, 2020 Share Posted October 29, 2020 When I watched Black Narcissus (the 1947 film), I had no idea a remake was in the works. I don't know that I'm terribly interested by it -- it seems they've padded the length a bit, put a bit more flesh on display, and dialed back the melodrama. Also, the Technicolor presentation of the original really pops wonderfully, whereas there was a strange flatness to the color grading in this footage. For some reason a lot of shows these days run with very muted lighting, even when it's supposed to be broad daylight. Can't say I care for the trend. The Son, we have some acquaintances at the literary agency that represents Nesbø (the founder of the agency has gotten an executive producer credit), to say they're pleased by this development is to put it mildly. Doubt it's going to rehash any old plotlines, but rather focus on stuff from the books they left out the first time, and probably new stuff set in the same setting.
