None of those people worked there at the time of the 50th special and he still turned it down. He probably just doesn’t like Doctor Who all that much.

Eek. Barrowman's colonel has a lot to answer for.

I really hope Barrowman kept himself contained for those Ecclestone episodes with all the kids running about in gas masks.

Apparently he didn’t like the script for the 50th, felt he was just comic relief

It's not that, it was the director of his first block of serials (Keith Boak) being an idiot and taking all the stress and frustration riding on his shoulders (for relaunching the show after 16 years) out on cast and crew, and allowing unsafe work practices resulting in a stuntman almost being seriously wounded, and the producers refusing to back up Eccleston and fire the director.

Eccleston thought Barrowman was an idiot as well, but that didn't really register on the radar compared to the other issues.

It appears that Eccleston was willing to do the 50th if the script was rewritten to better reflect his character, or if they got his favourite DW director (Joe Ahearne) on board to direct. They didn't have time to do either of those things, so he decided not to return.

Madly, and I only heard this recently, Moffat's Plan B was to bring in Paul McGann as the Eighth but the BBC vetoed the idea and said they needed a bigger name.

Always wondered why they invented the whole war doctor thing rather than used McGann. Having him being the doctor during the time war always made more sense than Eccleston.

Not got a link, but someone didnsone sound editing to remove the Spice Girls track fron that Giggle scene, and people are now inserting their own music to the scene. Had Last Christmas and ABBA anong others

That would be a fun way to lose Whamageddon

Finally watched the final two specials. Man, they really upped the budget and the pacing. Chibnall's era always felt almost glacier-like to me in comparison to these episodes.

And while nothing made sense (Why is the Toy Master doing a dance number at Aveng- UNIT tower? Why are there two doctors? Dolls and tv screens and scary rooms? O-kay, is that Marvin the Paranoid Android?!), it didn't have to if it was fun, had some good character beats, fun scenes, and a pulse. Which this all definitely had in spades.

So is the Curator = 14 ?  Considering the Curator didn't have Tennant's appearance, but varied between 4, 6 and 11, perhaps 14 does have some residual regeneration energy that will allow him to do that?

The Curator also said his number was "extraordinarily high" so could be a similar splitting that happens way in the future post-15.

That’s been speculated but woth nothing to back it up.

The theory that when 14 regenerates, he loops back and becomes 15 is probably the most likely, given 15 saying that he’s fine bexause 14 sorts his shit out. His Tardis is probably 14’s brought back in time.
