Fixed fee for Havertz for arsenal is like 50m with 15m add ons. The media shifted the reporting on to just talk about total package but that was the bid.

Ok, makes that deal more sensible for Arsenal.

Still not a bad outcome for Chelsea all things considered. Assuming they paid like 70m for Havertz, and they regained 50m it'd be not that horrible. Basically a bust on 20m signing. Not great, but given how much the big clubs are spending on transfers 20m would not be marque signing gone wrong, but a gamble on a player not paying off. All a matter of perspective.

Lukaku on the other hand was just a debacle for them from start to finish.

Euros vs. Pound.

In Pounds the fixed fee was similar check above. (62-70m). Not sure which landmark's were agreed for additional fees.

The initial fee for Havertz was £71-72m (€80m) with add-ons that could see the fee rise to £90m. We don't know which, if any, of the add-on clauses were met.

Ornstein says it's £62m + £3m in add-ons.

Only briefly skimmed through a few old reports. So you are probably right about the fee.

Either way, the transfer was not a total disaster for Chelsea. They clawed back most of their investment. A transfer loss between 10-30m while not great isn't gonna kill them either and they got the GWG in CL final out of him on top of that.

All a matter of perspective. I don't think Havertz will go down as an inspired signing in Chelsea history, but it was not a total disaster either.

It's not bad for Chelsea. On the books they can record it as a profit due to amortisation since Havertz spent 3 seasons out of a 5-year contract at Chelsea so even if they paid the full £90m (unlikely) his maximum book value would have been £36m.

Good dogs.

I know what you all are thinking.

How did he convince David Luiz to pose for the pic?

I can answer that question. The on the left is infact not David Luiz, but a German Shepherd (or a Belgian?), anyway it is infact a dog, and not David Luiz.

Christophe Galtier and his son have been taken into custody on allegations relating to discrimination based on an alleged race or membership of a religion. Galtier is accused of having made discriminatory, racist and Islamophobic remarks during his one-season spell in charge of Nice in 2021-22.

There are reports that allege he said in an email: "You have built a team of scum. There are only blacks and half the team go to the mosque on Friday".
