Querying Your Thoughts on Male Lingerie

I maybe weird, but though I find men attractive I don't particularly think of that part of their body as very attractive. So, no lingerie doesn't strike my fancy. I actually like my men well dressed, with just the right hint of skin (for different men that can mean different things). https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=662708427092077&set=a.658441347518785.1073741845.456768264352762&type=1&theater http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ljuuzmYRmD1qbtguuo1_500.gif So no male personalized sling shots for me.

Out of curiousity are you female?

I suspect the appeal of lingerie is cultural, based at least partially on the idea of women as forbidden fruit.

It calls to mind a poignant painting of the Exile from the Garden. Upon realization of their nakedness Eve covers breasts and genitals but Adam covers his eyes.

the item that appears to be a slingshot wrapped around one buttock is promising. probably the next step in evolution would be the phallic pasty: covers just the tip, just for a second, to see how it feels, &c.

Heh. I wonder about the subpersonal implications of lingerie - is a man wearing such a thing emasculated?

Is aversion to such images inspired by heteronormative bias? [Note this would be different from a homophobic bias.]

And on the flip side -> by covering the "indecent" parts of women, are we emphasizing those parts above the rest of her? Is it ultimately a negative objectification?

Has there ever, in history, been a society where male lingerie was a desirable thing? If the answer is no then there is something more profound than cultural programming at play.

If I had the body to wear one of those... yeah, why the hell not?

Even if you had the body, would your partner really be turned on by the sight of you in a slingshot? I know for a fact that my partner has absolutely no desire to see me in such a get up, even if I was Zach-Snyder-Spartan-buff. Maybe strutting around without a shirt, but certainly not clad in a junk-clinging piece of fabric or mesh.

Methinks that the discrepancy between male and female sexualized garments goes beyond christian/western cultural norms.

Male lingerie for the most part equals clown shoes as evidenced by most of the photos in the link. I mean, just rest some Groucho glasses on your manpart and be done with it. It's completely the opposite of lingerie a woman might wear. And I have no idea why. Women's stuff can lean towards naughty goofy, but nowhere near what's been presented.

There's a way to make tight lines and barely there clothing for men without adding an elephant trunk or suspenders. But the people making this stuff probably aren't women, which is why it's so off the mark.

Besides nothing beats a nice (nice being what I deem it) pair of boxer briefs. :dunno:

What are (other) male sexualized garments [apart from this stuff]? (serious question here)

You cant just transpose female undergarments to men and think those would work.

I think the kind of tight boxer-briefs that kind of cling to your buttocks would be the most appealing to heterosexual females and gay males, but that's just a guess.

:agree:

And how did I know Naz was a frustrated slingshot wearer? I swear, sometimes I'm physic.

This thread is almost as useless as the 'would you date a former porn star' thread.

Have you read all my posts in this thread?

Because while I am obviously biased, I don't think this thread is useless. What's your criteria for usefulness?

Seems to me both threads ask us to reflect on sexuality, gender essentialism, and moral positions on both.

I'd even go so far as to say such threads are just as, if not more useful, than many other threads.

Of course usefulness is subjective, which is why threads are opt-in and no one is forced to participate.
