James Fenimore Cooper XXII
Hoster was a nasty lord. Consider this could be karma. He betrayed King Aerys to increase his status. His house is paying the price if the Stark, Baratheon, and Tully families were conspiring against the Targaryens prior to Robert's rebellion. This illness was then inherited by Catelyn and on down to her children. Darth Sidious and Moiraine Sedai
Moiraine Sedai
Lysa was forced to abort. That was Hoster’s doing. I think Lysa was already emotionally tilted before that though. The illness was there but it was mild.

Roswell
Bran sees a lot of really bad stuff. It will be very easy for him to lose his sanity and do something homicidal on a large scale. Like releasing wights into the 7kingdoms. Instead of let loose the hounds its let loose the wights for Bran. SaffronLady
Why is this thread still not locked and open to Bran the Wight Heart gibberish? Why would Bran even consider using the wights to exact his revenge when his power as greenseer means he has many other options available? Darth Sidious
Hoster’s family might indeed be the victims of karma. Cat and Ed were too young to have done much during Robert’s theft of Westeros but Cat has sinned a lot.

Ned's public execution triggered the same illness in Arya. Something very stressful will happen to Sansa and she might break too. Their blood make them vulnerable to madness. Sansa is the most like Lysa among Catelyn’s brood. She’s cooler headed while lacking some smarts. The one who is already suffering from the illness is Arya. Moiraine Sedai
Catelyn had the inherited madness from the Tully family from where she came. The strain of the red wedding on its own is not the reason she went mad. It was in her blood.

Every time I read a Cat chapter where she's going totally bonkers and acting like a lunatic I'm reminded of all those mad deranged mental Tully ancestors of hers we hear so much about throughout the story! Like Aeron Greyjoy, but his religion is just hating the Tully's for some reason.

Here's Looking At You, Kid
Catelyn had the brains among hoster Tully's children. Lysa and Edmure were not sharp in that area. Although it is Catelyn and Lysa who went mad. Arya is much smarter compared to slow Sansa but it is Arya who lost her sanity. Sansa could be spared from madness. I don't think she will live long enough. Littlefinger will get rid of her as soon as she loses what value she has in his plans.
