  1. Past hour
  2. Ah, now the cat’s out of the bag it was just posted by HBO Nordic as well - who of course play up that Amanda Collin is Danish: https://twitter.com/hbomaxnordic/status/1786078895285895567?s=46&t=C69ncj-6GZzxtH0VmMIzKg
  3. Isn't the Justice Department also investigating Live Media, also owned by Liberty, for antitrust violations? The Congress probably has other, more important things to do, but it is interesting to see that the Andrettis are getting some support on the Hill. Andre Carson, the US Congressional Representative for Speedway, IN, is included in the twelve. Also John James (R-Mich.) and Indiana's Greg Pence, Victoria Spartz, Jim Banks, Erin Houchin, and Rudy Yakym III have signed the letter, showing how the Indianapolis influence is felt even outside Speedway.
  4. I have not gotten into these back-and-forths, because they are often not the exchange of idea but just jousting. However, this is just wrong, wrong, wrong. No one here has suggested that, and it's my understanding that the mods would not permit it. I really try to speak from a place of humility, but what you have said here is just not true.
  5. Thanks, and I hope yours does as well. I agree Lower Decks and SNW’s have both been great
  6. Fair. Let's cut to the chase - I wish more Americans were as just and kind as our PR says.
  7. Well firstly I’d say that in most, almost all circumstances people should be treated on an individual basis, as circumstances are different for everyone. But yes for instance a rape shelter for women should be a female only space.
  8. You didn’t. And I hear you. It has been a week for me too. I sincerely hope yours improves. I enjoyed the last three seasons of Discovery more than I enjoyed the first two. I still really enjoy Lower Decks and SNW.
  9. Well, no. One side looks for new various ways to exclude transwomen from what it means to be a woman, which has massive political, social, psychologial, and health repercussions for trans people as well as cis people who also fail to meet this ever evolving criteria. The other side wants to include transwomen into what it means to be a woman, which does not mean erasing ciswomen from what it means to be a woman. It means widening rather than contracting our understanding of "woman." So while you may feel that this is exactly how it feels on the other side of the debate, then it is only superficially so because the stakes, motivations, and consequences are different.
  10. Yea, but if you look up what a military is, you’d know they very much are one, for the many reasons I listed above. If they’re not military, then they’re military adjacent. Listen, if you like Discovery I’m happy for you and honestly don’t want to mock your opinion, because I honestly view that as wrong. I only saw 3, seasons of the show myself and couldn’t bring myself to watch more, because I knew I would just be hate watching it. In the 3 seasons I saw, I did notice a lot more crying, than in any other Trek show I’ve seen before. That’s the only point I was trying to make. Sorry if I came off as a jerk in some of my earlier posts, I’ve just been having a week.
  11. One war at a time my dear. Hamas in Gaza is being dealt with now, their ability to conduct another Oct. 7th attack is being destroyed. A sword removed from the hand of Iran. Once the southern and northern borders are secure, Gaza under military control, strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities can begin in earnest.
  12. Yeah, the whole idea that liberalism was somehow poisoned and people are afraid of it because it was made into a boogeyman when it was otherwise perfectly dandy seems to ignore the actual viewpoints of Americans. There have been a whole lot of chances for the US to show how incredibly liberal and progressive it could be if only it was unfettered, and it always ends up not being nearly the case that people think it'll be. The latest iteration of this is that Trump of all people was able to energize voters in a whole lot of places and significantly increase voter turnout in a whole lot of categories.
  13. Controvertial to you, existential to trans people. Cant you understand that? People here are debating the existence and validity of trans people, its not some fucking thought experiment that has no real world consequences. People really are saying "well you can call them women all you like, but we all now the real truth, they are cosplaying, they are not FEMALES" its disgusting
  14. I'd give up a weeks wages to be the one that cuffed him.
  15. There have been no leaks whatsoever on if Jess Redfort even appears in Season 2 - even the top super spies don’t have a guess ( in contrast we have two guesses about Sara Snow, but it’s also possible Sara isn’t in it at all) also some think the person facing her is Rhaena, judging by the clothes: leaks revealed that they’re actually going to show if not expand on Rhaena’s subplot in the Vale ( which could easily have been reduced to an off screen mention)
  16. He's a behavioral ecologist who is pretty infamous for outdated opinions on topics outside of his field that you would expect your embarrassing grandfather to say Thanksgiving. Of course there would be people who would find a kindred spirit in Dawkins.
  17. It did. You can trace a line from that result to Clinton’s “triangulation” abandoning meat and potatoes New Deal liberalism. I actually think, win or lose, the Biden presidency’s legacy will be a return to that for the party. Should also be emphasized even with the shift in strategy/aversion to leftists, the Dems still lost 49 states twelve years later.
  18. So how does 'eradicate Hamas' do that? Hamas isn't in Iran. Hamas' leaders aren't in Iran. Hurting Hamas doesn't harm Iran in any meaningful way. And why would punishing Iran stop Hamas in the future? It certainly hasn't so far.
  19. Yeah, you can only make jokes/get away like that when youn are a dad. Sorry, I shouldn't have trivialised your post.
  20. I’m saying what Starfleet always says. And the best Trek episodes are, in my opinion, those in which the actors are allowed to emote. Finally, you are exaggerating “constant crying” on Discovery.
  21. I'm not the one talking about biological women without defining it. I know you keep trying to avoid explaining what you mean though - it's a lot easier to be vague when discriminating. And why is that? Why are female only spaces, where female is apparently defined by gonads, important? @Heartofice explicitly did so. You can go back and look at their posts if you like. Perhaps you'll want a biological definition of 'celebration' that involves the celebratory gonads; if that's the case, feel free to substitute whatever terminology you would prefer when someone is happy about something happening and is telling people about it.
  22. You know where it needs to go. War with Iran. They must be punished for enabling their proxies and prevented from getting the bomb.
  23. I'd also argue that the '72 election shaped a couple generations of Democratic electoral strategists, as they've never run anyone anywhere near as liberal as McGovern since. Not saying they made the right choice, especially over time, as I've also been frustrated by their predilection to "centrists" and it's contributed to the party's rightward, corporate drift. I wish there was a way to destroy the "liberal is a dirty word" paradigm that has gripped this country for over 50 years.
  24. You know things are going off the rails when Richard Dawkins is deputized into the argument.
