  1. Past hour
  2. Witcher 3 mod editor out : hope this becomes the new skyrim in terms of the modding scene !
  3. I mean, if nutrition isn’t an issue (along with things like scurvy or tooth decay), I guess I would go with chips and salsa or maybe tri-tip sandwiches or smoked ribs. Or maybe go some kind of diarrhea-inducing food like I used to be able to eat in college like the defunct grilled stuffed steak burrito from Taco Bell, or Oreo blast cheesecake. Or maybe would go with entertainment value and have some decent-tasting psylocibin edibles or cannabis gummi bears?
  4. Anyway I’ll table this discussion for now. Let’s see how the games go. Indiana is doing what they need to do here making this a track meet. They do have the offence to run Boston off the court and a great defender to throw at Tatum. This could get spicey.
  5. The players who guard Jokic can not guard Luka. That was the Wolves advantage they had 3 people they could put on Jokic. You try putting KAT on Jokic and you’ll get destroyed. They will likely actually be hunting KAT with Luka. They did it in the regular season. The Mavs handled OKC just fine with an average series from Kyrie and a hohum one from Luka. They don’t need to catch fire to beat the wolves anymore then they needed to to beat OKC. Also OKC had a top offence, Minnesota well not so much. I don’t quite understand you. You just seem to think all you need to do is point defenders at players and voila you win. I assume if you play Boston in the finals your players will magically morph to shut down their guys too. And pretty much everyone said that the wolves with their bigs were perfectly created to beat the nuggets. That was their ideal matchup. The Mavs are just not as good a matchup because they don’t have a good option for Luka. Wings too small and bigs will get roasted.
  6. Another way to look at it is Luka is a smaller version of Joker and Kyrie and Murray are pretty similar. And the Nuggets next two best players are good deal better than the Mavs'. And Wolves beat them by nearly 50 in a game. Again, they'll probably just try to make Kyrie useless and let Luka tire himself out. The Mavs don't have many options if those two aren't both on fire. The Wolves have already taken down two teams that I believe are better than the Mavs and both teams actually gave them more match up headaches.
  7. It’s the two man game with Murray and Jokic that drives Denver, but it’s all based off Jokic. Murray is not a ball handler or creator like Luka or Kyrie is. He’s just not as dynamic a player. He does what Denver needs him to do though. But it’s just fact that Jokic can run without Murray but vice versa not really. On Gobert yeah I agree Towns enables him most. If KAT drives into the paint it will leave Gobert open for putbacks or lobs. This series to me I think pivots mostly on KATs playing consistently and Lukas health. Those are my X factors.
  8. For the folly of seeking revenge and risking his children to do so Doran is destined to receive the punishment he had planned for Tywin, to see everything he loves taken from him before he dies. Doran will outlive Trystane, Arianne and probably all the Sand Snakes, then he will die or be killed.
  9. Today
  10. Not saying that. Just wondering if it would work. I think it might, but Gobert has failed to overpower smaller players before. And if it does, it gives Towns and the Wolves more options. Its hard to play with someone who is completely not a threat, that's part of why they got Conley. But I think it's Towns that enables Gobert the most. That's not true. Murray hasn't been at his best, but even still he does a lot of the work. _ Think the preferred matchup defensively for the Wolves is Edwards on Irving and McDaniels on Doncic.
  11. Who cares when Conley is on the bench? We saw game five you just double Ant and nothing will happen. With Conley out their offence is very weak. Anyway probably not worth discussing ball when it’s their team involved. You already made it clear last round how much you underestimate Dallas. How did that lucky to win a game go? Neat other game so far though. Indiana turning it into a track meet and keeping up with the Celtics.
  12. It was an animal. I decided to edit out my qualifying note as I thought it gave too much away. I'll stick to the 5 canonical books only to keep it more simple. One person in WOIAF expressed scepticism.
  13. Ant and Luka's listed weights are basically the same and both have also been discussed as weighing more than they're letting on. Difference is one is built like a tank. And Ant really only needs to guard him in spots, because again the Wolves have an army of wing defenders, many who can also guard Kyrie. btw, who is Kyrie guarding when Connelly is on the bench? You want him on Ant? Or perhaps one of the many 6'6 to 6'10 wings they have? There are mismatches all over the court on paper and they largely favor the Wolves. The Mavs will win if they get really hot and the Wolves go ice cold at the same time, but outside of that this is not a great matchup for Dallas.
  14. I think no. We have the symbolism of the overripe oranges - Doran always waits too long. All his previous plans have failed and his whole family thinks he's weak. If I had to guess at what will happen to him - I think he'll likely be assassinated by Gerold Dayne (Darkstar) in a coup d'etat. He's currently being hunted by Balon Swan and Obara Sand. We know that Obara Sand despises Doran's weakness and wants revenge for the death of her father. I expect she'll lead Swan to Darkstar, Darkstar will kill him (perhaps with Dawn if he steals it), and Obara will join him...and probably enlist all the other Sand Snakes besides Salara. And they'll target Doran. According to Doran, Darkstar is the most dangerous man in Dorne. I know the fandom loves to hate him (the line "I am of the night" really is ridiculous) but he's being set-up as extremely skilled and dangerous.
  15. I always just assumed that they DID take their boats, but landed at Eastwatch, which is the closest Night's Watch fort which has a port, and then had to hoof-it from there. Eastwatch is canonically directly South of Hardhome and would make for a short trip. It's been a while since I watched that episode though.
  16. I think it's because she thinks that the captain of the ship she used to get to King's Landing sold the information of her arrival. She specifically thinks about that in one of her POV chapters. She likely felt like she got burnt by that and avoiding using the same method a second time.
  17. I’m “not the first”. Who are the others? I’d love to connect with them. I haven’t met anyone who has made these discoveries. The validation would feel refreshing Of course it’s only Waymar bathed in the moonlight standing before the “great rock”. The “watchers” only “emerged silently from the shadows”. They are only thought to be “twins to the first” not “shadows”. It needs to be pointed out that, “the first” is not the “white shadow” (Waymar’s reflection). The “woman up an ironwood, half-hid in the branches” is “the first” that Will is thinking of in that moment. The description of the “watchers” with the shifting patterns of delicate armor making them all but invisible in the wood, looking half-hid in branches, is what he’s remembering. So there are six that he’s counting in his head, “three of them…four…five…”, plus the one he’s remembering in the ironwood. The reason Ser Waymar never saw them, never heard them is because they were silent and imperceptible in the shadows. Only some things bathed in the light of the moon can be perceived in the black obsidian mirror. And there’s no funhouse-one “great” wall. Mirror, mirror on the wall who’s the fairest (most handsome) of them all? Waymar? [A magic mirror inspired by Snow White] The two disembodied white masks (Waymar’s moonlit face and his reflection) symbolize the comedy and tragedy masks of the performing arts. Of course Waymar is the cocksure laughing fool and his distorted reflection is the weeping tragic hero [weeping wall]. Cloaked by his “sable crowning glory” his body is invisible at first. [A cloak of invisibility] He will “emerge from the dark of the wood” a few moments later. Waymar’s longsword, a personification of him, makes him a symbolic sword in the stone. Magic mirrors, magic swords, and invisible cloaks are all themes being laid out by Martin in the Prologue. Obsidian glass is translucent the thinner it gets. The Wall, “great rock” is thick. And the Other’s longsword, the reflection of Waymar’s longsword, was sticky with sap after butchering all of those saplings along the way. His repeated strikes against the massive stone wall creates micro-shards of obsidian that sticks to his blades making it come alive with moonlight and appear pale blue. The reason it seemed almost to vanish when seen edge-on is because it no captures the moonlight at certain angles. Yes!!! Waymar and the “white shadow” are two sides of the same coin. And lastly, the “watchers” are the CotF.
  18. No Ant doesn’t weigh more than Luka. He could perhaps try what Dort did but do you want your number one offensive option to get tired getting leaned on? Ofc he is more athletic but no if Luka leans on Ant we know which way it’s going to go. And if you do that you are going to exhaust one of your only dynamic offensive players. Minnesota is still not a good offensive team, they’re reliant on Ant and KAT to get points. Denver’s issue is they have to run offence through Jokic. Murray is not a ball handler or creator. When they want to spell Luka they can have Irving run things. Add in no bench and Malone running his starting five into the ground and it’s no surprise Denver got run down.
  19. Her ability to see into the future is severely limited in that the visions are unclear and in many cases, symbolic...and she's got a horrible track record in terms of interpreting them. She knew the Maester was going to try to kill her...but did that really require any magic? He had been openly opposing her the entire time and naming her a witch, and Maester's are trained in poison as part of their education on healing. And he was EXTREMELY obvious about it - he suddenly went friendly and offered her a toast after basically accusing her of devil worship for months - and all that, right after she burned all the symbols of his religion. Anyone could have seen that one coming. She certainly may have seen the method of the attempt on her life in her fires though. Whether she used magic or simply protected herself via antidote is unknown....I'd err on the side of "antidote" though. We know from her POV that a great deal of the "magic" that she displays is actually just slight of hand. Her shadow babies are indeed extremely dangerous, but she doesn't aim them herself....they fulfill the wishes of the person she has sex with...and it certainly seems that she removes part of that person's soul to pull it off. She also has to convince them to have sex and go through a short pregnancy to use that ability. I agree that she's very powerful...I just think that her "aim" sucks. She keeps getting everything wrong.
  20. Symbolism is a MAJOR feature of these books - I think pretty much everyone would agree that a core theme of the whole series is the events of the past foreshadowing the current events....the entire line-up of mythical characters from the Dawn Age and Age of Heroes are symbols of our whole main cast. We just don't always agree which things are symbolic and which are either a bit of a stretch, or coincidental. Personally I think this particular one is just coincidence....The only two things that match up are attempting to rescue a Stark girl, and the involvement of 3 guys. But those 3 guys are just robbers, the Stark girl isn't actually there, Lady Tarth isn't a Stark, and the end results of the situation don't significantly effect anything. So...I just don't see it. Could I be wrong? Sure. I think a lot of the disagreements on here (as well as the trolls) are a result of the fandom waiting so long for the next main entry. Everything has been gone over with a fine-toothed comb for well over a decade and people are just really wanting to find something new to talk about. I think it's fine to make reasoned disagreements - hell, almost every theory I've ever posted has been more or less disagreed with by the majority of people replying....but that didn't offend me. Disagreement is fine.
  21. Yea, but what she lacks in physical strength, she makes up for with magic. Plus she can see into the future, so go luck catching her off guard.
  22. I feel like Dallas needs a 1-2 year rebuild, but I'm not sure how to execute it. They have pieces a lot of teams would like, but Idk if the right value is there for them to go through with it. I just never like feeling like I'm stuck in the middle with enough reason to be sorta optimistic and that's where Dallas is. Getting a decent RB just kind of keeps you there. I still think Dak is better than Goff, but the gap has closed considerably the last few years. They're guys you can win with, but they most likely need to come at value, hence why I don't like paying dudes these massive deals unless they're HoF talents. I was as high as anyone on Lawrence on this forum before he was even in college. But damn the Jags will probably be making a terrible mistake if they make him the highest paid guy in the league. Right now Mahomes is the only QB you don't think twice about when it comes to his salary. I like Burrow a lot, but I'm not even sure if it's a great idea to max out the credit card on him (I'd still probably do it in the end because of Cincy's woeful history, but Idk what that will look like once the offense starts losing some key pieces).
  23. Yeah I was confused by that as well. Getting rid of that legacy monarch figurehead and going with a Republic? I'm happy to have a referendum that only indigenous Australians can vote in to answer that but I doubt it's what was being pictured.
  24. Ah, I didn't actually even think how that word would be interpreted.....I'd forgotten how the show confirmed her as extremely old and disguising it with a glamour. I was simply referring to the fact that she can't really physically fight any more than somebody like Sansa, and that she'd be very easy to kill via physical means. I DO think that she's probably very old and there's open hints that she's using a glamour in the books, to the point that she specifically mentions show a glamour can be linked to a piece of jewelry like a ruby (which is what she always wears around her neck.) I think that her being extremely old is more likely than simply trying to disguise who she is or hide her slave face tattoos, which she would undoubtedly have.
  25. KAT tired Joker out in part because he could rest and had others who could also guard him. And Ant actually weighs more than Luka and is likely a lot stronger and clearly more athletic. Plus he has an army of wing defenders to give him some rest. The Wolves don't have to shut Luka and Kyrie down, they just need to slow them or choose to try and nuke Kyrie while letting Luka get his stats. This is why it matters that after those two the Mavs don't have a lot else while the Wolves can throw so many different line ups at them and the Mavs likely won't have a counter.
  26. Lie on your arm for ten minutes beforehand and it will feel like somebody else is holding it.
  27. Yesterday
  28. Started playing Diablo IV Season 4 this morning [haven't touched it since S2] and they've totally revamped the gearing system. It's much, much better They've also tweaked the ilvl itemization a fair bit from what I've been able to glean. Having fun. edit: and I'm 50 already. so the levelling has been upped dramatically as well
