Ekitike looks like he could be quite cool to be fair. A lot to spend on someone that unproven, but hey, it's Newcastle.

Burnley got Weghorst which seems an excellent signing but look to have failed in their attempt to get Mislav Orsic. Given they're likely to want to attempt that one again in summer you'd think finding a decent loanee to help them till then would be ideal, but who knows.

And Ekitike apparently said no.

Reports say, that he'd rather finish his first senior season at Reims and thus is not itnerested in signing for Newcastle.

Alli to Everton.

Not sure who lost out on this deal.

Alli, who's career is in a tailspin, Everton who ended up with Alli, or Spurs,, who couldn't get the best out of player, who was considered one of the greatest talents in Europe a few years ago. Or is it van der Beek, who could find himself on the bench again, if Alli was to rediscover form.

Why not all of the above?

Still, though, it only becomes a buy with 20 apperances, which will first happen next year at the earliest. So for now a sort-of-loan.

Burnley's announcement video for Weghorst. Superb

 Ok that was good. That's possibly the most entertaining thing Burnley have ever done.

It seems like Barcelona are going to sign Aubameyang and save Arsenal from paying his wages. Those are the kind of sensible signings that definitely can't go wrong that are going to dig Barcelona out of the financial hole they're in.

It sounds like Liverpool have finally reached an agreement with Fulham over Carvalho, though there isn't much time left for the medical.

They agreed the fee but didn’t get the loan-back documents submitted in time so the deal was not completed.

As sceptical as I am of him ever being good enough for us, I do feel a bit bad for Van de Beek that he put in all this push to get sent on loan for playing time only to see Everton sign another player who shares his exact position about five hours later. Harsh.

eta: I also just learned that Dejan Kulusevski wears the number 44 in honour of... Adnan Januzaj. Wat.

No idea how we're going to set up - some players will have a hard time getting a game now. Not sure where Lampard will play Richarlison, but if he wants to play five in midfield (say), we have Richarlison, Gray, Townsend, Gordon, van de Beek, Alli, Allan, Gomes all competing for those spots. And that's with Doucoure and Davies out.

Will be interesting to see. And, hopefully, more exciting than this season has been so far (though preferably exciting in a good way...).

Scottish club Raith Rovers decided to choose death and piss off their fans (including famous author Val McDermid) by signing David Goodwillie. Goodwillie was controversially  not prosecuted for rape some years ago but his victim successfully prosecuted him in a covil case.

Well, we don't have a typical 10 on our books now. And neither Alli nor vdB are exclusively 10s either, are they?

vdB operated several different places in that Ajax team, I seem to believe, and Alli was best when Eriksen was the 10.

Only player I actually believe is better at 10 than anywhere else atm is Iwobi. But then again I don't think he's consistently PL level, so there's that.

Dele was probably at his best playing as a shadow striker ( to borrow an FM22 term), behind Kane. His main strengths were his aggressive and ability to find that space to knock the ball into the goal. Feels like he doesn’t have what it takes to play deeper, even if he has done ok as an 8 occasionally.

Either way I think if signals a change in direction for Everton under Lampard who will probably want to be less direct and reliant on wide wingers.

Aubamayeng is not going to be earning all that much - nowhere near what he was earning at Arsenal. Barca had room to add on €2m (gross) in wages so Auba is not earning more than that.

Also worth noting that Barca battling to register players is not going to be an issue next season. They already reduced their wage bill by €159m plus restructured their short term debt into long term debt at more favourable interest rates. Their revenue will see a recovery as well so their wage cap for next season will increase significantly.

This year, they're apparently going to pay him the balance next year. Maybe that's fine in terms of their salary cap issues but there's a very decent chance Aubameyang is not worth that sort of money and it's not great for their financial situation overall.

Depends on the duration of his contract though - I think it was reported to be a 6 month contract with the option for a further year. That's not too bad at all plus Dembele is most likely leaving at the end of the season which will take another big chunk off their wage bill. Or if Dembele decides to stay he will have to take a significant wage cut - it's been reported that Barca have withdrawn their previous contract offer and told him that if he wants to renew he will get paid the same amount as Fati and Pedri.
