Spockydog
This is a perfect microcosm of Tory Britain. An absolutely revolting individual gets to influence our laws for the rest of his life, even after doing this. Burn the fucking place down. Spockydog
Oh, ffs. Two weeks ago: Starmer urged not to U-turn on new North Sea oil and gas ban Quote Keir Starmer’s promise to block new North Sea oil and gas exploration has received the backing of an eclectic range of high-profile groups, including environmental campaigners, trade unions and even the Women’s Institute. The Labour leader is set to unveil his net zero energy policies during a speech in Scotland this month, including a radical pledge to ban all North Sea oil and gas licences. The promise is a key plank of Labour’s environmental platform, but has sparked anger among business and political leaders in the north-east of Scotland, where the industry is concentrated. The Labour leader is being urged to stick to the plan in a letter signed by 139 organisations, including the Campaign to Protect Rural England, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and the National Federation of Women’s Institutes. Today: Keir Starmer in retreat from North Sea oil pledge Quote The Rosebank oil and gas field west of Shetland is expected to get the go-ahead within weeks, following reassurances from Sir Keir Starmer that he would not block the development if a Labour government comes into power at the next general election. In the latest shift in the party’s green policy, Starmer is understood to have given the commitment to Equinor, the Norwegian state-owned energy company which has the licence for Rosebank. Maltaran
I have a suspicion they’re going to try and let it go through on the nod so they don’t have to have a formal vote and record who voted which way

Derfel Cadarn
Sunak looks a total coward. He should have learned what Brown should have; be decisive to survive politics even if its the wrong decision. Less than four years ago, Johnson won a massive 80 seat majority as PM. Since then he’s been the only PM to be punished for a crime (thr fixed penalty for breaching his own covid restrictions), been ousted by his own party, quit as an MP bcause of the damning report, now damned as a liar and forbidden a pass into parliament. And his first Daily Mail article was about diet pills… Not so much a fall from grace as a pile drive into the earth’s crust. https://news.sky.com/story/boris-johnson-vote-sunak-privileges-committee-report-on-lied-to-parliament-12593360?postid=6074298#liveblog-body

Spockydog
Today, no doubt succumbing to shady external pressures, Glastonbury Festival banned a film about Jeremy Corbyn. This film is narrated by a Jewish man, and features interviews with several Jewish people talking about Jeremy Corbyn's 'antisemitism'. Just what are they so frightened of? Heartofice
'Tory mortgage penalty' is a clever bit of spin by Starmer. Of course people lap it up.

Fragile Bird
I was just watching repeats of the tv series New Tricks, and the scummy police boss in the episode runs off from a meeting in the field because he’s going to have “lunch with Boris”. I guess he was Lord Mayor at the time. Cracked me up! Zorral
