    Dorne? Highgarden? Riverlands?

Euron's ships destroyed them after they took an empty Casterly Rock. This forced the Unsullied to march across the Riverlands to King's Landing.

My hope for AryaWaif holds on

Yes, the "Baelish and the blonde" scene is weird. They made anything out of it so far. Baelish could reappear. However, I don't think he will in the show. Arya, on the other hand, is Arya for sure. Nymeria recognizes her, Bran would know, Arya and Sansa share so must intimate information... no way... that would be inbelievable.

Heresy 220 and the nature of magic

I don't have the quotation to hand but GRRM did very firmly declare that there is no Nights King apart from that very distant [in time] figure of legend. My own take on this statement is that while they are certainly antagonists, the blue-eyed lot are not protagonists and that the Nights King seen in the Mummers' version is a theatrical invention

    Thoughts on Bran’s character development

Yeah, Hodor mutilates Locke' neck. I forgot about that great scene. Bran uses Hodor quite a lot. It's not nice to just use another's body, but somehow the end justifies the means.
  6. I think Jon will end up as a king of Westeros with a seat in Winterfell. The Capital will be moved. It was done in real history. His wife-one of Daenerys, Arya, or Sansa.
  7. The Westermarck effect would be strong between Jon and Sansa, and in addition the show has given us no hints or clues at all that these two are (falling) in love with each other. Quite the opposite in fact, Jon still feels that Sansa is undermining him and Sansa thinks that Jon's stupid. It would be both nasty and come out of the blue, which would be bad storytelling.

    Thoughts on Bran’s character development

Bran warged into Hodor in order to break Locke's neck as well.
  10. I think this is the key game for the title race. City could be flat after getting knocked out of Europe, if they drop any points today it piles massive pressure on the derby for them. Alternatively they could be especially motivated to do well in the league now, a big win today and I’d expect them to win out from here. ETA: Foden starts for City. That’s interesting.

    LOTR prequel TV series 2.0

So Tom Shippey and John Howe are in... Not sure how I feel about Howe. On one hand, he's obviously an amazing artist. On the other, he was involved in the Jackson movies, and it'd be nice to have a fresh aesthetic.

This was a welcome piece of good news about Notre Dame. The cathedral's 180,000 bees survived the blaze, despite the hives being on the roof. I can imagine the beekeeper's relief.

  15. I definitely don't disagree at all! It's 90% determined by the subjective narrative each voter subscribes to, in the end. That said, I'm just ecstatic the superstar from my team is in the running.

Rickon is destined to be new Lord of Winterfell

Nope. I think he becomes the Bolton's hostage, and Jon refuses their terms, and Rickon is executed. They will say Jon did it because he didn't care about Rickon, because he was happy to see Rickon die because Rickon has a better claim to Winterfell and the north than bastard Jon. Ice eyed, winter hearted, black bastard blooded. But what the randos think won't matter to Jon. Arya will wonder. Bran will wonder. Sansa will think he did it for all those reasons, because that's what she would do. Right or wrong, Jon will have done it for true enough reasons, kill the boy and let the man be born, no one person is bigger than the north or the war for the dawn.

NBA 2019 - Now the Joy in My World is in Zion

Yes you can, best player on best team usually has a decent success rate if I recall correctly. I just don't really care. It's hard to separate a player from his team and comparing across positions and game plans makes it even worse. I've said it multiple times but to me its a pageant*. It is just about who looks best and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. *I've never actually seen a pageant.

    Comics XIII

At this point it feels like comic X-Men could do with a Disney style restart. I'm really hoping Hickman's run streamlines the franchise and builds it back up again. Still no word on whether they'll hand the main books over to Hickman after his mini series are done. I guess they are waiting to guage orders/response but it's the kind of thing that would get me trying the books again. Does Hickman have any go to collaborators? A bit like snyder and tynion, rucka and brubaker? I think my dream team in terms of getting me reading several x-books would be hickman on uncanny/x-men and Remender on X-force or ancillary X-team. Give Ellis one book to do whatever he likes too. Or do something really crazy and convince brian k Vaughan to do an x-book. Saga has shown he has soap opera down which used to be a core component of the x-books. I'm just not sure marvel would give him the freedom to do so and his ultimate x-men run was forgetable. Him doing new mutants or a core book would definitely draw people in. On a separate note, i finished vol 31 of walking dead. The series is clearly in one of its lulls as they drag out the slow revelation that the new group is rotten. Even the characters admitted it saying they are just preparing for the next war. What Rick did to Dwight was contrived. I'm not even sure such a move wouldn't have resulted in someone else's death. There were obviously better ways to diffuse the situation.

    Remorseful Jaime, Unrepentant Dany

I'd be disappointed if there was a "Jon and Dany happily live forever" ending. After all this violence, blood shedding and scheming there has to be a tragic end to most characters. I could only buy some happy ending in form of a young baby as a promise of hope for a better future. At the moment I can't see any existing characters forming a couple and taking the throne together, everything being fine. Some people root for Sansa and Jon ending together. I don't see any vibes for that, but maybe it was not meant to show, who knows, and they build tension between them in last episodes. But still, I don't think so.

    The Orville Season 2

It's more of a "make stuff up as you go along" type of thing, but TOS started the same way. It is nice to see it evolve into a setting of its own. Then again, the latest episode wasn't really up to speed again. The Thomas Riker stuff was cheesy enough for them to copy it to the letter, but Ed/Kelly will they/won't they is certainly the weakest and most annoying part of the show. Please stop doing episodes like this, they are boring beyond belief and utterly undermined the first return of the Kaylon after a while, here becoming nothing but a background obstacle (that is at least not given the Voyager-Borg shafting at least). At least the effects were nice.

    Best line of E01

Yes, I started this thread with two pretty important quotes, but I like "It had its moments" best after all. What a great sentence to say about the Purple Wedding.
  23. You could also define it as something more relevant like "leading a team to win more games than any other team in the league" but eh

    Sansa's desire to be Queen

    Agreed. Three entirely different scenarios.
  25. And I agree with GRRM here. Lord of the Rings is not emotionally gripping because emotions are mostly absent. Live is about love and social interaction. GRRM portrays that very nicely in A Song of Ice and Fire.
