Am I allowed to say I liked this episode?

I liked it.

I mean, it still had a lot of problems, but the last couple of episodes have gotten increasingly better. To me the plot doesn't feel that confusing anymore, but what the hell is up with the mexicans?

They're all like "who you trying to get crazy wit, ese? Don't you know I'm loco?"

So what was the point of Ani getting on the bus? Couldn't they have just followed the bus and broken into the house to get info? Which, you know, is what they did anyway? I know Ani had some GPS tracker in her shoe, plus a knife apparently, but couldn't they have like just followed her to the meet point and she just refuse to get on and then tail the bus?

Why does Ray's son have red hair? None of the potential parents have red hair, they're all brunettes. I'm no geneticist but it would seem impossible, so are we being led to believe that neither Ray or the rapist are the dad but some passing ginger that Ray's ex had an affair with? There is one sleazy looking carrot top on the show. Yeah Blake I'm looking at you!

Those bug bears aside the episode was just the usual head scratching toucan for me. Literally what the fuck is going on? We briefly wander into the plot of Eyes Wide Shut only to immediately wander out again with Woodrugh clutching the land deal plot, literally in fact.

Ani didn't have the knife, she swiped it from the ham they were conveniently serving at the orgy.

Muhahahaha - I know.  I keep expecting them to say, "We don't need no stinking badges." a la Blazing Saddles.

I liked the orgy scene a lot. It was very refreshing for an HBO-style show to have a huge orgy and barely show any tits or ass in a sexual way. In the old days of Deadwood, Oz and The Wire they could show nudity without making soft-core porn, but recently that's all they've been doing so this scene was nice. I also loved the classically themed soundtrack throughout the orgy scene, it was unorthodox and worked really well.

The crime mystery is very straight-forward, but all the names and small detours makes it seem complex. Basically it's just some dirty rich old men who makes lots of money behind closed doors. Can't say I'm intrigued.

Also, unlike most, Vince Vaughn's character is my favourite this season. His lines are pretty silly, but I think it works really well with the character (or the character that the character is trying to uphold). And he's not nearly as bad an actor that I previously though.

Monkey, you're not alone; VV is my favorite as well.  I think he's done an excellent job, and I've really enjoyed his scenes.

I thought the orgy scene was very well done.  Instead of being salacious, it was suitably threatening and creepy, as it should have been.  The viewer sees it through Ani's eyes, and I was horrified on her behalf as well as for the women involved.  There was a definite sense of foreboding and danger throughout the whole thing.

If these parties have been ongoing for years with little to no issues, I can see why the security wasn't that great.  The men have gotten used to drugged women who are easy to manipulate.

Feels like VV's character should be able to pull together more than $200k-$300k on a moment's notice. He really is an oddly low-level gangster considering how much stuff he's involved with.

Wow. If all the episodes had been this good, this would've been a hell of a season.

He's taken a lot of hits. I can see how it would be a struggle.

Still, there's also the issue that it took him double-mortgaging everything to be able to pull together the $7 million for the initial land deal. Just doesn't seem like enough money is involved.

Is there anyone who didn't see James Frain coming out of the shadows coming from a mile away
I enjoyed the episode quite a bit though, Vince Vaughn has gotten better each week and this was by far his best showing imo.
Everything came together, maybe a bit too much so but I'm glad it all makes sense now for the most part. I want all three of the leads left to come out of the finale triumphant, these last couple eps have made me like them all a lot more. Wont miss Woodrugh all that much but he definitely went out like a warrior God :)

This was a great episode and really makes you realize how poorly the season has been structured. So much is rushed now and so many moments do not have the payoff they should because they weren't referenced enough and things were too hidden in prior episodes.

Who was the guy in the underground that Kitsch had been researching?

Where's Dejah Thoris when you need her?

I think my problem with this show is that they throw a lot of names around, and if you weren't really paying attention to introductions, and are able to put the names to faces, you're --or in this case I'm-- lost.... I need a website explaining it all to me...

... like TV special ed

I really liked this episode and felt bad for Paul. He was a very conflicted man. It was sad that even his tryst with that guy was a setup, I had no idea what all the names were. That list was like whoa, I don't know who's who but pretty much everybody ever shown is involved. I thought for a moment there that Velcoro and Ani were going to kill themselves. That scene between the two of them was fantastic.
