Fez
Now there's an apocalyptic ruling. Thomas in his concurrence goes on to say that the Supreme Court should also overturn constitutional rights to same-sex marriage, same-sex relationships, and contraception. To give a sense of where that fucker is at. Kavanaugh in his concurrence says that this is just about abortion and nothing else. And takes pains to say multiple times that the constitution is neutral on the topic; and that he would vote against any case seeking to make abortion unconstitutional as well. Roberts concurred only in judgment, saying that he'd have gotten rid of the viability threshold but otherwise kept Roe in place. Barrett and Gorsuch don't say anything beyond having signed on to Alito's opinion. The liberals of course dissent very strongly.

Further demonstration/confirmation that he is likely to be the swing vote on most controversial/significant opinions.

Zorral
The special coverage on WNYC reports that in some states, w/pre-Roe antiabortion laws, clinics with rooms full scheduled patients, have to send them home, as this ruling is immediate. Have you ever heard of a court ruling for legislation being in effect from one second to another? Rape is a weapon of war, particularly directed at women. Tell me this nation hasn't been at war on women for decades. Even the wording and tone of the opinion reflects this. All sorts of laws for privacy and autonomy of the individuals are now targets, not just contraception and voting rights. Kavanaugh lied straight out then. He's lying now. cock_merchant
Historical moment and ruling. This will save the lives of babies especially Black babies. Trump's 1 term presidency has its legacy secured.

Thats sounds an awful lot like victim blaming. Perhaps this wouldn't have happened if men would not always stand aside and make this a women-only-issue. They could also fight for what is right , for their wifes and daughters and sisters- totally regardless of color- but they don't, do they?

If you wanna break it up further, white single women always vote Democratic, and white college graduate women voted for Biden 54 to 45 percent. Moreover, of course, white women do not support the GOP nearly as much as white men.
KingintheNorth4
Overturning Roe V Wade won't decrease abortions, it'll make them much more dangerous for women who don't have the means to travel several hours out of state, especially Black Women. Also it's ironic that the same people celebrating this decision have no problems with weapons of war being sold to civilians.
Maithanet
This is the first time in a long time (ever?) that after winning the WH and Congress, that over the next two years the laws decisively change against the victorious party. It's like the opposite of "elections have consequences". Elections had consequences, but now they don't matter anymore.

At least Biden or Obama didn't appoint any of these six.

Now we care more about a fetus than an actual baby and the woman that gives birth to it. I'm sure those babies are going to have a great life, growing up in poverty or without their mother. Well, no- I actually think this is a great example of elections have consequences. It just expects people to have a longer term vision then what is in front of them today. In this case the consequences are from the 1988 election, the 2004 election, and the 2016 election.
