Do immigration lawyers think this is "all for show" ?

Because it's not at all clear "printing money" is the main reason for inflation in the UK. That's a right-wing interpretation that's highly in doubt.

The inflation that ordinary households have been seeing in their weekly expenses is largely about supply constraints and to some extent opportunistic corporate profit taking. Increasing the money supply only has a minor impact on inflation and that largely due to cheap money going to people who already have a lot of it and looking for assets to dump it in, hence asset price inflation.

"They" can't point to actual demand lead inflation so "they" just blame a general increase in the money supply. But it's the fall in goods supply that's the problem.

Also despite the panic a couple of years of 7-10% inflation is nothing to panic over, unless you are also trying to depress wage growth. If you facilitate wage growth then a period moderate inflation isn't a problem. And it's also a bollocks myth that wage growth causes or exacerbates inflation. Wages are only a proportion of the cost of goods, which means compensatory wage growth as a response to inflation (so long as supply is not constrained) basically does nothing to put inflation above that magical 4% limit that causes govts and reserve banks to run around in a blind panic.

want to see something funny?  Gammons upset that people where waving EU flags during the last night of the proms?

https://www.spottednews.uk/news/brexiteers-fuming-after-eu-flags-dominate-proms-reactions/?fbclid=IwAR1u-qv3_NJ0ZfOJUdxrvex799qg8VttM6jOj8ghmG1myB76P0fyxYHId9s

this caused such an upset the Express has a new poll for a 2nd referendum on Brexit.  currently on 83% Yes.

yes I know its too late for a 2nd ref,  but I guess we could technically have one about re-joining even then it won't be straight forward but it is fun to see gammons get their knickers in a twist.

also I'm using gammons to make a distiction between those that support Brexit to those that get into a frothing rage  when supporting brexit.

Brexit was the flag-humping heart > head crowd, sovereignty > tangible benefit.

The LNotP crowd are the heart > head, sovereignty > the tangible.

I can absolutely see why any Brexiteer would want to downplay this.

I fucking LOVE how triggered the Gammons are by this. Didn't know a thing about it until I saw all the right wing salt.

Anyway, who cares? They'll all be dead in twenty years.

O my! This is as hilarious and preposterous as the fascist guy screaming about President Biden being in Alaska on the day we celebrate 9/11.  This politician really did use the word, celebrate', when speaking of the terrorist destruction of the Towers here in NYC on September 11, 2001, in which over 3000 people were killed.

There have been EU flags at the Last Night every year since the referendum and the Mail gets upset every time

There were EU flags there before that. Last Night has a lot of Union Jacks, but it's also been a 'pick your favourite flag and bring it along' sort of event for ages. I remember seeing Welsh flags, Scottish flags, the Manx triskelion, German, French, Italian flags etc.

I'm sort of raising an eyebrow at the stereotyping and inverse snobbery, tbqh. 'Elderly well off toffs'? Is that who we imagine is in the LNotP audience? 'Middle aged middle class types' perhaps.

Agreed - it’s not Glyndebourne, the whole point of the Proms is to make classical music more accessible.

There are large protests going on outside a shop in Peckham. There seems to have been an incident where a black woman was disagreeing with the asian shop owner about the returns policy, so went to the back of the shop to take some products and was going to just walk out of the shop with them.

The shopkeeper tried to restrain her and prevent her leaving, at which point she hit him, he pushes her back into the shop and she hits him in the head with the shopping basket. At this point the shopkeeper momentarily grabs her by the throat and pushes her. He then lets go and restrains her by the arms, then she violently attacks him again repeatedly while he backs off.

Video footage of this was released, cropping out the bits where the woman attacked him and it has caused widespread outrage, protests outside the shop, protests about systemic racism. The actual CCTV footage (which is easy to find online) instead shows the reality of someone stealing items from a shop and attacking the owner when confronted. It's hard to understand how the crowd can get this so wrong.
