Considering these all look almost certain to reach Biden’s desk at this point, wanted to note that because this is INCREDIBLY unpopular with young people. I have no problem having civil discussions on Israel/Hamas in my classes, but when I bring up the TikTok ban things get heated FAST. ETA: One important difference between this measure and the previous ban that passed the House but stalled in the Senate is this one would give ByteDance essentially a full year to divest whereas the previous bill only gave them six months. I guess they’re hoping that will quell electoral backlash since it probably won’t happen by November, but I wouldn’t count on it.
