Makes sense. On top of fElon's many issues, this doesn't look like a great product advert:

Ye gods it's so fucking ugly.

So funnily enough I drove a Tesla for a few days last week. My car was in the shop and we went for a rental. EVs were actually the cheapest rentals available. Later on the rental dude (Hertz) told us that they were abandoning EVs because the replacement parts were so delayed.

Anyway, I actually rented a Bolt but they only had a Tesla Model 3 available. I didn't like it. Interior felt cheap and rickety. There was persistent noise leakage behind my ear like a hissing 8-track (hi, I'm old). I hated the fucking touchscreen being in charge of pretty much every car function except lights and shifting. I hated the stupid fucking flush door handles.

Acceleration was nice, I'll give them that, and acceleration is important to me (I've rejected prospective cars I otherwise liked in the past because they were so anemic). At times I really wanted to rip into some curves, but I had groceries sliding around in the back. It took some adjustment to the fact that the car would pretty much brake if I let off the gas. The brake pedal was almost superfluous.

So I continue to feel confident in our "not a Tesla" policy for Mrs Gabriel's next car. We're thinking a Hyundai or Kia at this point. Probably can't wait until the VW electric bus comes out (maybe I'll get one after I've driven my current car into the ground).

One of the big conclusions of the Cass Review is that we have seen a period where ideology has taken over science in medicine. We have to get away from being scared of being challenged by uncomfortable facts. We need to be able to look at the causes of what is going on without feeling afraid.

Come now. Ideology taking over science in medicine is nothing new. You're just alarmed because you feel it's "woke" ideology. Just like the age-old practice of social ostracism and "cancellation" suddenly became a major problem because it started to affect people with views you sympathized with.

I've also found that things like that taste better reheated next day, which again may be bollocks but I can at least see some logic in allowing the flavours to develop

This is definitely true of my chili and pasta fagioli (though the latter congeals into casserole rather than a soup after more than a couple of hours anyway).

I'm loving the 'facelift' rumours that are now swirling around.

I'm telling you, she is fucking dead. D.E.D. Ded. Crosses for eyes. And now they're going to deploy some North Korean level damage control, in the form of crappy lookalike.

Surely somewhere out there, Meghan Markle has been furiously washing her hands and muttering, "Out, out, damn spot..."

I also made a vat of bolognaise, only about 1/3 pork/beef meat. The rest is veggies as the kids like it and I try to make it as healthy  as possible for them. Not to he consumed until its had at least 1 week in the freezer. Made about 20 portions which will be frozen flat in freezer bags as it is so much more efficient.

Curious: is that because the freezer time makes it more tender/congealed?

They really are both dogshit choices, like being offered vinegar or lemon juice to be poured on a paper cut.

Come on now. I'm not thrilled with Biden running again but they are not at all comparable. What a ridiculous oversimplification.

This lazy "both of them suck" dogshit thinking is a large part of the decline of American political culture.

I've done that, it's good, but I had to learn not to put in too much PB.  Oatmeal is something that takes additions like this very well.  Slivered almonds in oatmeal are delicious, other nuts and seeds are also good.  Dress oatmeal up, it's yummy.

Mmmm, never thought of peanut butter but I bet that would be great with sliced up bananas, which is my usual oatmeal addition. We also do steel cut oats, which my wife introduced me to. I grew up on Quaker rolled oats.

Being New Englanders, we usually sweeten our oatmeal with a bit of maple syrup. And blueberries when they're in season.

Considering America's long history of lynching African Americans, many which were made into a spectacle for a crowd, bodies left up for all to see, photos in the newspaper, ect; ad nauseum.  This is a revolting idea.

edt; actually, it's just a revolting idea all around

I am firmly convinced that the "Nazi child masturbating in the bathroom" from "Knives Out" is based on Charlie Kirk.

    So he says.

Reminds me of my friend who owns a chocolate factory, and how devastated his nephews/nieces were when they visited and it was just an industrial unit with no oompa loompa's.

My wife seems pretty convinced by the Instagram pics she posts and the quality of food we get there.

If I had to guess BB wanted to still have GM powers which we know has proven to be disastrous. Perfect example of being great at one thing doesn't mean you'll be great at another even if there's some overlap between the two.

The article I read on the Athletic said as much, Atlanta likes their GM and wouldn't want to demote him.

I struggle to think of an owner foolish or desperate enough to give Belichick full personnel control. Maybe Tepper? But he's already hired someone and even for him, that'd be a quick firing.

Btw I worked with Tepper's son many years ago at ButtCurt's game company. He was unassuming and competent, you'd have no idea he was the kid of a ravening jackal.

  11. Celtics-Spurs tonight was my first look at Wemby, and his range and reach is startling. In the 4th I saw him casually swat away a Jaylen Brown dunk, without jumping. Then he dunked over Luke Kornet from a distance that other players would shoot a hook.

Nobody has an answer for him, he's a force of nature out there eh.

Clearly the answer is a discreet jersey tug. ;)

ETA: I am surprisingly touched by the Lions fans tearing up in the stands. Including the guy with the 68 year season tickets who saw the last championship.
