Solmyr
Something sentient. Can't think of a mythic/fantasy sentient animal right now (dragons don't count, too much controversy over their sentience in mythology and fantasy), but if I'm going to be raising it, it better be sentient! Perhaps a spren dunno if it's considered an animal tho ...
Larry of the Lawn
I change my answer - I want an alzabo farm for all the fun opportunities it would open up in the realm of anthropophagia.
paddington
A Gorilla, it would be great, we'd lazy around together eating, farting and sleeping. Maybe growl at a neighbour or two.
The Mance
A dragon. Not one like Smaug or Targ dragons, but like ones in The Chronicles of Pern.Toss up between a fire lizard and a dragon for me. A fire lizard would be a lot more useful in the day to day, "where the fuck are my keys?" sorts of things. Whereas dragons can fly, but thats pretty much it unless I need something set on fire in a big way.

The Marquis de Leech
RBPL,I just want to see a living Haast Eagle. :) Given that we're talking a bird large enough to eat humans (and it might well have done so during the early years of Maori settlement), it would give a whole new meaning to adventure tourism. Mlle. Zabzie
So I'm considering this, and here are the criteria I'm using: 1. Is it likely to eat me or members of my family (or turn us into stone)?2. Would it fit in a NYC apartment?3. How much work does it require (does it need walks, do its living quarters require mucking out, does it shed, does it need a special diet)?4. Does it come with any ancillary benefits (wishes, protection, etc.)?5. Coolness factor. Weighing all these factors, I'm going with something similar to Lady N. I want a Brownie. I'd be happy to give it its fill of milk, honey and porridge.
