That is just, so god damned funny to me. And I wonder how many will actually consider signing it. Elon might be trying to change the narrative like he did at Tesla when he finagled in the Founder title.

As a severance agreement lol

Got to wonder if the terms on the monetary part of the proposed transaction were more generous than anticipated.

Mechanics Discover Tesla Snuck Downgraded Brakes Behind New Red Calipers on 2023 Tesla Model Y

Evidently the owner can get the exact same thing much cheaper at AutoZone and install oneself.

.... Did Tesla ever say the 2023 Model Y features new brakes?
Technically, yes. According to CarScoops, Tesla did say the 2023 Model Y features new brakes, sorta. Tesla said it was changing the brake manufacturers for the 2023 model year. The previous Model Ys used brake components from Brembo; now, ones built after August 15, 2022, use Mando parts. DriveTeslaCanada reports that Tesla also said this change wouldn’t affect braking performance.

CarScoops also mentions that the aftermarket Tesla parts supplier, ZEVcentic, took to the Twitters to share its unique insight. Sometime this past weekend, the ZEVcentric posted this little tidbit regarding the Tesla brake change to its feed:

“As we took delivery of our 2023 Model Y last month. At some point, Tesla decided to put caliper covers on the Performance Y. What does that mean? It’s a smaller caliper and a smaller rotor which is the same on LR [Long Range]. So now you are just paying for the same brakes, just red.” ....

It fits. Musk just tries to reinforce the perception that Tesla is a software company.

My net worth continues to close the gap with his. Well, more appropriately, his net worth is doing more to close the gap than mine. :P

The Elon/Billionaire stans continue to look silly.

Anyone else hear a whistling noise there? Like goal posts suddenly moving with great speed.

Anyhow, as I recall, I think most predictions were 6 months or so for a serious problem. There have already been performance issues, pulled ad funding, and other significant problems (though temporary for now). So, uh, cool beans.

Oh is that Week moving his own goalposts? It's 6 months now is it?

Weirdly Elon appears to have fired 75% of his staff, and not only has the Twitter not fallen over, but they are releasing new features at a rapid rate. It might even be getting better. The UI change this week as certainly made it a lot better.

Also weirdly Twitter has done things like pissed off European regulators, caused a massive exflow of users from the service and may be on the hook for billions of dollars in various damages, lawsuits and regulatory claims.

Having twitter run as a service was never the really hard part. The hard part is doing it legally

Not sure they are lowering the prices in Germany, but they completely missed the opportunity to get them below the threshold for government subsidies here. If they had done that last year, they could have sold a lot more to business customers.  It was really the difference between paying maybe 200€ or 400€ per month. (Numbers are from memory, but more or less double company pay rate for me when a car costs 60001€ instead of 59999€)

Apparently all third party Twitter apps stopped working this morning with no prior notice. I use Twitteriffic, and I don’t care about Twitter enough to bother switching back to the official app. I can’t find figures for how many people use third party, can’t be insignificant though? That’s a huge drop in usage for Twitter overall surely?

Tesla Cuts Prices Sharply as It Moves to Bolster Demand
The price reductions in the United States will make more of the company’s electric vehicles eligible for a federal tax credit.

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/13/business/tesla-price-cut.html?

Tesla has cut prices on its two most popular electric cars in the United States and Europe by as much as 20 percent in a bid to spur slackening demand.

The move comes as Tesla faces increasingly stiff competition in the global market for electric vehicles.

Tesla recently lowered prices in China and reported a global sales total for 2022 that was below analysts’ expectations. After the latest price cuts were reported, Tesla stock was down about 5 percent in early trading on Friday. The share price has fallen by roughly 70 percent since November 2021.

The latest price cut on Tesla vehicles appeared on the company’s website late Thursday. The automaker now shows a high-end Model 3 Performance compact selling in the United States for just under $54,000, down from $63,000, a cut of 14 percent.

The most affordable version of the Model 3 now sells for just under $44,000, a reduction of about $4,000.

For some of the lower-priced models, the cuts put them in range to qualify for federal tax credits of $7,500 that were made available starting Jan. 1 under the Inflation Reduction Act. The credit is available on electric cars priced under $55,000.

Tesla sold 1.3 million cars in 2022, a 40 percent increase from the year before, but short of the 50 percent annual growth target the automaker had set for itself. In recent months, rising borrowing rates made its electric cars more expensive for people taking out loans.

Tesla’s fourth-quarter production of 440,000 cars was 34,000 more than the company delivered, suggesting that the sluggishness went beyond supply chain problems and production issues.
