Who is the most dangerous character in A Song of Ice and Fire?
JoyfulJoy replied to Ring3r's topic in General (ASoIaF)
The Night King is a legend character in ASOAIF, a lord commander of the night watch, married the "Corpse Queen" with skin pale as milk, he had sorcery, and created evil actions, eventally he was defected by Brandon the Nreaker and Joramun, he was also disvered to make offering to the Others. In HBO game of shows, there was also a character named the Night King, who was the leader of the Others and wanted to invade the South, so there was confusion if the Night King would also show up in ASOIAF, however GRRM stated that he wanted the Night King to remain a legend figure, like Bran the Builder. "As for the Night's King (the form I prefer), in the books he is a legendary figure, akin to Lann the Clever and Brandon the Builder, and no more likely to have survived to the present day than they have." He said this in the first comment of this post. -

Verstappen’s pole position had a slipstream assist from Hulkenberg in sector 1 (the only sector he outpaced Norris and Piastri). I think the McLaren is comfortably the faster car this weekend. It should be competitive tomorrow, especially with both McLarens able to coordinate their pit stop strategies.

NFL 2024: It's Draft Season You Sandbagging SOBs
DMC replied to Tywin et al.'s topic in Entertainment
Been hearing about Bally’s imminent and now current bankruptcy since I moved back down here two years ago. I’m sure it will have certain repercussions but I think it’s silly to think it’s going to have much effect on local coverage of major sports. One of the major conglomerates is going to pick up the local NBA and MLB teams. Really, the only question is whether or not - or when - the NBA and MLB want to take that to streaming too. - Yesterday

Exercise & Fitness: it’s a marathon, not a sprint

Yep fair enough. As with all these rules of thumb there's a large degree of individual variance in them. -

I've heard this is happening all over the place with a lot of small to mid sized markets not really knowing what to do. My understanding is larger media companies are buying their rights on the cheap and Bally's will be all but dead soon. Glad Sinclair got it stuck to them, but a lot of people will be SoL for it. Philosophically it's rather interesting. There's joy knowing you can dance on a devil's grave, but is the devil that comes afterwards even worse? TBD I guess. -

I saw The Fall Guy which I thought was a lot of fun. It did have some very funny scenes and the stunts were unsurprisingly good. I liked some of the sillier moments like the unicorn or Jody incongruously wearing the prop alien hand during the split screen scene. Gosling and Blunt have good chemistry although the writing of their relationship was lacking in any depth. -

Doctor Who: 60 Years of Mayhem (SPOILERS for latest episode)

The writing for her did seem inconsistent, she initially seems intelligent and resourceful enough to track down her father's location but then that all seems to go out the window. -

I was a bit worried about the young girl's mental state. All this crazy stuff with robots and lasers is going on and she gets distracted by an AI-generated scrapbook? She was written to be about 6 but cast around 14, which seemed to create the discrepancy. -

He does have to do most of the episode moving as little as possible which can't be easy but he was excellent. It was a very good episode, although it did sometimes rely a bit too much on the human characters being painfully stupid. -

Identical or fraternal? -
I'm not getting my hopes up too much, since the hype was all about 5 drivers being in the hunt and suddenly Max is on pole again. But the margins are much thinner than we are used to, so maybe someone else has a shot. My main concern would be Norris getting too over-eager at the start or Piastri not backing out of the first corner if he really should.

Exercise & Fitness: it’s a marathon, not a sprint
3CityApache replied to Iskaral Pust's topic in General Chatter
Yeah, maybe it's just because it never really worked for me. With 22 minutes for 5k I was never able to break 48 minutes for 10k and 1:50 in half-marathon. So in my case it was more than 12 seconds per km when doubling the distance. -

Same is happening in Michigan, Bally's covers the Tigers, Red Wings and Pistons and it's struggling to stay on, app is apparently horrible also. -

Enjoyed this episode, nicely paced less fluffy/stupid than Space Babies a better thought out than Devil's Chord. I also think it was an excellent showcase for Ncuti and why he deserves the role as the Doctor
