Question on Elden Ring here. So my eight year old son has finished Armored Core 6 and I was wondering if Elden Ring which is also from the same developer was fine for him to play. (Since I bought it when I got my PS5) My son is pretty mature for his age and has completed god of war, th E mass effect trilogy, horizon games, the Diablo games, etc. But I haven’t let him play Witcher 3 because of the nudity and adult content.

It's fine for the nudity. It does have some fairly graphic violence and body horror though. Almost no swearing that I can really think of. Do you have a problem with a woman happily eating a giant writhing snake god's entrails? Or people ripping off their own limbs and beating you with them? It also has a lot of jump scares in effect.

It's nothing like Armored Core though, so it being from the same dev really won't help.

It’s not necessarily the nudity but also the romance and adult themes. It’s just a lot more mature game in ways. Sure Mass Effect has some of it but it’s definitely a lot more PG. And yeah kids have been desensitized to violence more than sex just a reality of todays media.

I also think that they'd miss a lot on what elden ring is. A lot of the appeal is the fairly bittersweet and complicated backstory - a story given in fragments and bits of dialog. The game itself is fun but missing on that may be not great. Far more in depth than diablo 4.

Yeah I didn’t mean to attack you in particular man, just a reflection about society in general have become prudes around sex but so desensitised to horrific violence in all mediums…. I read somewhere that Gen Z is actually having less sex and at a later age than previous generations which dosent make sense to me at all…

How does it compare to the space fights/travelling/traversal in Freelancer

It's better, but not quite as good as X Wing vs. Tie Fighter.

@Arakasi Plot and presentation aside, I think it would be a very, very rare eight year old who would enjoy a Dark Souls-esque game. You know your son, but if they're going to get frustrated at dying over and over and over, it's probably not going to be a fun experience for them.

Here's the three videos stitched together.  Again, just a cool look and nothing informative about the game; but cool looking nonetheless.

Honestly I wasn't expecting anything today considering how gutted Bioware has been this year, and fans and former employees were doing online and in-person protests.

Massive staff rebellion at The Escapist after they fired the (very popular) chief editor at the site, credited with turning the site around in the last 2-3 years after several years of decline before that.

In solidarity, most of the rest of the staff quit, including the entire video production staff. Most significantly, Yahtzee Croshaw walked, effectively killing Zero Punctuation, one of the longest-running and most well-regarded video game review features on the Internet (to be honest the joke had worn out some years ago, so this might be for the best). Most importantly, ZP was effortlessly the Escapists' most popular feature, sometimes getting millions of hits for a single video.

Apparently Yahtzee and a chunk of the team are regrouping with a new project which they will unveil soon.

I hope the Legend of Zelda movie is dark and serious without goofy humour.

I also hope they don't cast Timothee Chalamet as Link as I'm tired of seeing that guy in everything.

Nah, it'll be Tom Holland.

Because Mario made 1.4 Bn USD

Yes, but it's animated, not live action.

Live action is almost certainly going to underperform or perhaps even bomb.
