NFL 2024: It's Draft Season You Sandbagging SOBs
Maithanet replied to Mr. Chatywin et al.'s topic in Entertainment
For rugby or football? 6-7 is not unusually tall for offensive tackles. Hell, the Bengals have three OTs on the roster who are 6-8 (Adarius Mims, Orlando Brown and Trent Brown). -

Not really, outside of a few positions anyway. The problem for NFL lineman sized people is rugby is more of a continuous sport that American football and there aren't a lot of people with the stamina to carry that much weight around for the required longer periods of play. That was Mailata's problem apparently. I would guess he's athletic but he wasn't very skillful. Not necessarily a problem playing offensive lineman, I don't think they'll want him to do a lot of catching or passing. -

If… immortality was not granted by presence in Valinor why were the Numenorians prevented from visiting Valinor directly? What harm would have come for men to visit Aman? -
Woulda shoulda is easy. I'm not sure that Nets team beats the 2021 Suns, even if they did get past the Bucks. And one of the flaws of any superteam is that you are relying on 3 guys to do almost everything, which means that you are particularly susceptible to injury. Injury risk was definitely something people mentioned as a potential weakness when the Nets were first assembled. It's a shame that Lebron is no longer able to dominate like he used to. Davis played well in this series, and while the rest of the Lakers are by no means as good as the secondary guys on the Nuggets, they aren't terrible. It's just Lebron isn't what he was in 2020, let alone 2015. Old age comes for us all (if we're lucky).

In a bid to solve the injury problems they've suffered this season, Brighton have moved to recruit Frankfurt's Head of Medical, Prof. Florian Pfab, and have agreed to pay Frankfurt around €250k in compensation. Apparently Frankfurt have been one of the teams with the fewest muscle injuries under Prof. Pfab's watch.

A science fiction short film titled Solstice-5. Wonder if the creator was inspired by the game Factorio: Main creator, Paul Chadiesson, is a freelance artist and has an ArtStation portfolio. He's apparently worked on Homeworld 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, as well as The Periphreal.

I'm reading the book at the moment and really struggling. I think they made a lot of good decisions with the adaptation.

Yabushige's death is a favourite moment for me, just for the way Asano plays it: no ritual, just an almost casual thrust in the gut. It's so perfect a note for him to end on. All the obsession with death, only to finish his own life with as undramatic and unceremonious a moment as you could imagine. I did read Toronaga as a ruthless manipulator almost from the start - the information is, after all, presented to us to show this. In a way, it's Hiroyuki Sanada's fault: he's just too darn sympathetic. ETA - this is also why I liked Gin so much, and why she's important. Gin sees right through Toranaga.

As I said, I could see them doing that. Hugely resenting the fact that a woman and her “savages” played a big part in their survival, and absolutely preferring a male claimant. ”No good deed goes unpunished, no act of charity unresented.” There are people who hate to feel beholden. What was truly bizarre about the show was to present such an outlook as reasonable. The narrative was that it was awfully selfish of Daenerys to expect anything in return for using her armies against the Dead and Cersei; that of course the North deserved independence under Sansa; and that Jon, not she, was the rightful ruler.

This year he has been pretty mediocre, to be honest. He had two great finishes to win games but overall he has shot quite poorly (his TS% for the series is 46.8) and too much at times and his playmaking hasn't been all that great either. He shouldn't be taking significantly more shots than Jokic, the most efficient scorer in the league.

I find it uses a lot more coconut, the recipe i make uses creamed coconut, which is like a solid block, and probably insanely calorific.

That depends on what the 'help' constitutes. The issue re Astapor was that most/all of the cities soldiers seem to have left with Daenerys and that the council she put in charge had no way to project powers. If Daenerys leaves enough soldiers behind, she should be able to prevent/forestall an Astapor scenario. The reason it is important that she comes back is to implement a system to replace slavery. Without a suitable replacement, the region will just revert to slavery again and the only difference will be who is enslaved. So obviously if Daenerys took all possible troops and dragons that would be undesirable (not to mention the supply issue). But say one dragon and a couple of thousand troops, should be good. I am saying that I think based on Daenerys' character she would want to save people without having a reward offered/people demanding she come and save them, based on her wanting to save innocents she would be likely to go, since that is why she is in Slaver's Bay in the first place - the slaves did not offer her anything to free them. Yes it would be really stupid for people in Westeros to demand she helped and then offer nothing in return, or to offer a reward then withdraw it after she saved them. I didn't intend to suggest this.

by no means an expert so it may just be the recipes I've used, but in my experience more tomato based, a bit hotter, "redder" (less turmeric)

Thanks for your clarification. I interpreted your post, apparently wrongly so, as some sort of wider, nefarious conspiration in behind and between the various actors (basically your illuminati/deep state etc. groups that are working from behind the curtains). Yes the US has some power to do what you say. But they have some limits, there are groups they can't influence or can't at the moment. Biden is a post Vietnam debacle politician and he is probably also a cautious person by nature, so he will almost exclusively search a diplomatic solution and everyone knows that and can thus leverage that fact to their advantage (which is what people as varied as Putin or Netanyahu do). There is no strategic ambiguity with Biden, he speaks softly but left the big stick at home. Second the US has pivoted to Asia-Pacific, something done by Obama and further emphasized by both (!!!) Trump and Biden. The disastrous and unpopular experience the US had in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Somalia and Lebanon, makes them extremely reluctant to commit to that region anymore. Further this is an election year and the current congress and thus by extension the current government are basically lame ducks (both Putin and Bibi bank on the fact that in January they might deal with a much more friendly government). The US is not going to risk doing anything major prior to the election, because whatever they do it might give their opponents an advantage. All of that together amounts to the US basically saying fuck you Netanyahu diplomatically, but not following up on that with substance. They have managed to get the Israeli to do the bare minimum such as allowing some humanitarian aid to Gaza etc. but not much more. Which is still better then what a Trump or Bush administration would have done, but I can understand that people expect more. -
If she leaves for Westeros in order to help them, she's risking that same thing again. I suppose the answer to this has already been said but i agree with what's been written. Lords and smallfolk alike can choose her as ruler and demand her protection or they can reject her and do their own thing. But the belief that they ought to get the best of both worlds because Westerosi are so cool is baffling. It is not villanous for Dany to claim the throne after risking everything to save the continent, another matter entirely is whether her quest in Essos could survive without her but depending the casualties she suffers, she might need Westerosi help to keep her victories in the East anyway. But it's absolutely hilarious to expect someone to die for you and then, after they have saved you, claim you don't even like them in the first place so they can go now...

Careful man, these guys freak out if you call an open world shooter with light RPG elements like Cyberpunk 2077 barely an RPG. They’ll be triggered if you claim that about Zelda
